Presented in June 2022, Google has just confirmed that the new Gmail interface with Material You sauce will become mandatory by February 3, 2023. In other words, it will no longer be possible on this date to return to the old design.
If you are an aficionado of the old Gmail interface, you will have to make up your mind. Indeed, Google has just confirmed on its blog dedicated to Workspace updates the definitive introduction of the new internal under Material You of the messaging service.
“Starting today, the new Gmail user interface is rolling out for scheduled release schedules, ending February 3, 2023. It will become the standard Gmail experience, with no option to switch back to the interface. original”, writes the Mountain View firm.
The new Gmail interface becomes mandatory
As the American giant points out, it will no longer be possible to revert to the old user interface. At the beginning of 2022, Google presented this new design which offers a modernized and customizable interface which notably includes essential applications such as Gmail, Chat and Meet in one unified place.
Indeed, on the left side of the window, users will be able to directly access Gmail, Chat, Spaces and Meet with a single click. On the right sidebar, other services will be accessible such as Agenda, Keep, Tasks or Contacts. By pressing the Plus button located at the bottom of the column, you will be redirected to the Google Workspace Market Place for download the extensions of your choice such as Zoom, Trello, Dropbox, Slack or DocuSign to name a few.
Via this new interface, users will also receive all their notifications in the form of bubbles. Convenient to check your messages quickly. As a reminder, Google recently improved voice input in Drive and now offers it on many browsers. According to the company, the feature now clearly commits fewer transcription errorswhile audio cuts are less frequent.
To test this handy tool, just go to Google Drive and create a new Google Docs document. Then go to the tools, then Voice input. Now dictate your text via the microphone of your PC/mac or your headset to see it appear quickly on the screen.
