God of War was one of the PS4’s hits. It was released on PC in early 2022 in an exemplary portage. Fans of the title then seized the opportunity to discover it again and those who have never done so to dive into this extraordinary adventure.

The PC version of God of War brings a whole bunch of graphical and technical improvements over its PS4 counterpart. It also allows you to do something new: the modder. In this selection, we have chosen seven that are worth seeing.

What is a mod?
A mod is a tool which allows you to modify a game. For example, he can improve the graphics or add aesthetic details. Some even add extra content. With mods, it is therefore possible to completely change a game.
Some titles are known for their propensity to be modded. This is for example the case of Skyrim, which has been modified and improved by the community for more than ten years. Some modders have even created their own adventure which was then declined into a solo game. This is the case of The Forgotten City in 2021.
With mods, it is also possible to disrupt the gameplay of a title. For example, DOTA, a famous Warcraft 3 mod, completely changes the STR aspect to create a MOBA, a genre that has since become one of the most popular on the planet.
As for God of War, the game is quite new, so the mods don’t go that far.
How to download a mod and how to install it?
For our selection, we have chosen mods from the nexusmod website. This site is recognized for its reliability and the mods offered are numerous and work.
There is no common procedure for installing a mod. Most often, this involves extracting a file from the game folder. But don’t panic! Each mod offered below describes in detail how to do it on its page or in a readme file. It will therefore be necessary follow the instructions step by step.
If you don’t like a mod, just remove it from your game files. Also note that modding a title is safe for your PC.
Our selection of mods for God of War
Skip Sony Studios Intro
When you launch the game, a “Marvel-like” intro appears on the screen and lasts for long seconds. This is the usual introduction of games from Sony studios. This mod allows you to skip it and go directly to the title screen. This brings additional comfort for the player, nothing more.
Improve graphics
God of War is beautiful. Very beautiful, even. But he is still possible to improve. This mod allows you to add light effects, refine shadows and refine textures. The end result is an even more eye-pleasing title. Watch out for your PC following, though.
Remove fog
God of War takes us to the misty lands of Midgard… if you’re not a fan of fog, this mod allows to remove it or to attenuate it. We lose a lot in terms of atmosphere, but it makes some panoramas more readable and more beautiful.
Direct access to New Game +
This is not a mod per se, but a backup. This is located after the end of the game and offers max upgrades for Kratos’ equipment. The interest? Have all the cards in hand to directly start the New Game +. Those who have already completed God of War on PS4 do not necessarily want to do it all over again before embarking on this mode.
Kratos without armor
In the first three God of War, Kratos fought shirtless. In this new part, our hero is equipped with armor and shoulder pads. If you’re more of an old schooler, this mod allows you to hide gear pieces. Their stats and upgrades will be taken into account, but they will not appear on the screen
Make Kratos’ shield invisible
This is again a mod that allows you to erase an element of the game, namely the shield. Kratos parries the blows with a retractable shield. If you don’t want to see it, this mod is for you. The shield will always be taken into account by the game, but will be invisible. This will give the impression that our hero is parrying with his wrist, like in the first games.
Kratos without beard
In the game, Kratos takes on his big daddy beubar. If you are not a fan of this look, you can download this mod which makes him completely beardless. In doing so, its appearance is closer to that of the first three games. It’s a question of taste…
