A few days ago, Google finally showed its Pixel Watch at I/O 2022. However, those from Mountain View left us a bit with honey on our lips, because the only thing we saw of the smart watch was a teaser. Everything indicates that Google will not give us more details about this product until the end of the year, when the Pixel 7 is presented. While we wait, there are people on the forums who suggest that Google has done a trick, and that the watch is not as nice as it seems at first glance.
If something does not convince you, camouflage it
When a company like Google shows off a device the size of the Pixel WatchYour main goal is to make a good impression. This can sometimes cause manufacturers to sell us half truths. It cannot be considered that they deceive us, but they are definitely hiding those details that they do not feel comfortable with.
A famous example was that of the genuine iPhone. Although 3.5-inch iPhones now seem ridiculous to us, Steve Jobs believed that people would reject his phone because it was too big. That’s why they hired a model with giant hands so that the device did not seem so huge.
A few years ago, Apple had another episode that is closely related to this move by Google and the Pixel Watch. When those from Cupertino launched the iPhone XS, they did so with some pretty wallpapers with planets. The background of those images was totally dark, and by equipping the iPhone with an OLED screen, the trick was done. In all the advertising of said terminal, the notch did not seem to exist. And the same thing has happened with Google’s new smart watch.
The Pixel Watch hides its insecurities by dressing in black
The Pixel Watch has been seen with a very elegant interface and a design that enters the eyes. But let’s not fool ourselves: not everything is screen. The frames of the Pixel Watch are huge, but by having an AMOLED-type panel, the effect is very well concealed, since we will not see the difference between the panel and the frame unless we force the angle against the light.
All of the official images we’ve seen so far of the watch have dark backgrounds. There is not a single photo where you can see a full screen interface that reveals the limits of the screen. The screen really ends where the curve begins.
What else do we know about this smart watch?
Beyond this little “trick” with the screen, at Google I/O we have been able to learn some details about this new smartwatch. The Pixel Watch has a round design with curved edges. Hence the black bezels. It also has its own crown like the Apple Watch, and according to Google, this element will be touch. Its operation could be similar to the “button” of the Fitbit Sense, only with more configurable functions. From the Fitbit watches, the Pixel also takes the infinity bracelet, although this new model has a totally different strap anchoring system.
Google has said almost nothing about the software of this wearables, but we have been able to see the arrangement of the sensors and some specifications. The watch will have water resistance up to a maximum depth of 50 meters, GPS and an optional 4G model.
