Google Russia officially enters bankruptcy

Alphabet subsidiary Google Russia has finally filed for bankruptcy. Last month of Mayor, the first information came out indicating that this I would have no choice but to take that step because the Russian authorities had confiscated her bank accounts, leaving her without cash resources with which to meet any of her obligations, including the most basic ones, such as paying salaries to her employees.

Since the situation has not changed, Google Russia has had no choice and has decided to declare officially bankrupt. A company spokesperson has confirmed it in a clear and simple way, and has also explained that the reason is what we had indicated:

“The seizure of Google Russia’s bank account by local authorities has made it impossible to hold our office in the country. Therefore, Google Russia has declared bankruptcy. The people of Russia depend on our services, so we will continue to offer some services for free, such as Search, YouTube, Gmail, Maps, Android and Play.”

The war launched by Russia after invading Ukraine is having important consequences at the international level, and also in the lives of the Russians themselves, who are having to deal with progressive impoverishment, and with an economic and social setback that could take them several decades back. Unfortunately, this situation does not seem to have a solution in the short or medium term.

For its part, the Russian government continues to filter and censor the media and limit access to social networks, including Meta and Twitter, although the truth is that more and more Russians are aware of the truth behind this bad call by the Russian government. “special operation”, which in the end is nothing more than a euphemism to refer to the invasion of a sovereign country. We can more or less agree with what has happened in Ukraine in recent years, and we can also question the measures taken despite existing agreements, but none of that justifies what Russia has done.

Going back to Google Russia, it seems that he does not rule out staying on Russian soil if he gets the chance, that is, if Russia returns his bank account and assets. could continue to operate in that territory “normally”.
