Google Search will allow a simple and fast search by images thanks to Lens

Google Lens, the visual search engine of the Mountain View firm, will soon be accessible from the Google search engine. Indeed, tests have already started as revealed by our colleagues from the 9To5Google site.

Launched in 2017 on the Pixel 2, Google Lens has since established itself as one of the most powerful and innovative tools of the Mountain View firm. For the non-connoisseurs, this tool is similar to a visual search engine. Indeed, this technology makes it possible to carry out research on an object, a text, a person by simply taking a photo. Google Lens is then responsible for analyzing what makes up the image shared by the user and then send all the information that she was able to glean from the web.

Google Lens comes in handy for learn more about a product spotted in store (to compare prices for example), on a restaurant (direct access to reviews on TripAdvisor or others for example). As you will have understood, the field of action of Google Lens is wide.

Since 2018, Lens has been available on Android smartphones, then the tool has then landed on Google Chrome since July 2021. Unsurprisingly, Google intends to offer Lens on all of its services. That is why it is not surprising to learn that Google Lens will soon arrive on the search engine.

Google Lens soon available on Google Search

Indeed, and as our colleagues from the 9To5Google site report, tests have already started. A participant sent screenshots to the American site. We actually see that the Google Lens icon appears near the search barright next to the voice search icon.

By clicking on the Lens logo, users are invited to drop an image in the box provided for this purpose, or to download a file. Relevant results are then displayed on the right side of the screen. Note that as on mobile, it is possible to restrict the Lens search to one or more parts of the image only. Useful if you want to focus your research on a specific element such as an object, a character, etc.

It is not yet known when this option will be rolled out to the general public, but we will update this article as soon as we have more information on the subject.
