GTA V now has realistic graphics on PS5, Xbox Series X and Series S

GTA V with ray traced graphics

At this point we can say that there is no other video game that ages better than GTA V, and it is that more than getting old, the only thing it does is rejuvenate. Little by little it has been adding game modes, special events and updates with graphic improvements. First it was the generation jump to PS4 and Xbox One, and more recently a new generation jump to PS5 and Xbox Series brought mind-blowing graphics. But there was still more.

Ray Tracing in GTA V

GTA V Ray Tracing

The latest update released by Rockstar has decided to include nothing less than ray tracing graphics to your beloved game. This will allow us to play GTA V with reflection and transparency effects never seen before on console, since it takes advantage of the potential of the new generation of PlayStation and Xbox to apply them.

Available both in PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series Sthe new patch 1.64 introduces the new graphic modality as long as we have selected the Fidelity modeand will take care of reflecting vehicles, characters and other details on reflective and shiny surfaces.

To check the new graphics we only have to go to a store window and check that we can now see ourselves reflected in the glass. It is something that at first may seem simple, but in addition to all the complexity that it entails, it is a small detail that gives the scene an extra point of realism.

The most exaggerated example of how this works can be found when we come across a vehicle decorated with chrome paint, something that turns vehicles into real mirrors and now looks incredible.

Where to try ray tracing in GTA V

There are quite a few examples in which to find ray tracing effects in GTA V, but the most striking ones are perhaps these that we leave you below:

Helicopters will now appear reflected in the glass of skyscrapers. Be careful not to get too distracted by watching yourself pilot in that giant mirror or you’re going to hit them.

Vehicle rearview mirrors also show reflections, however, they only do so when we get out of the car, since while we are driving the mirrors work as before, with a generic reflection that has nothing to do with the context that surrounds you. .

Basically everything that is reflections will look more realistic and impressive. Rain-soaked floors will now look better than ever, especially at night, where the lights from billboards will reflect off puddles.

As we say, an extra that may seem simple but hides immense complexity and completely radically changes the way we perceive the virtual world of Los Santos. If you have a PS5 or an Xbox Series X|S, you will only have to update the game to get the 1.64 update.
