GTA V: Rockstar removes transphobic dialogue from the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions

Rockstar reportedly removed several jokes from the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of GTA V that were deemed transphobic by members of the LGBTQ+ community. Although the NPCs are still accessible, their voice lines have been removed from the game.

The new version of Grand Theft Auto V is not not revolutionary to the previous version. It includes a number of visual improvements such as new visual effects, 4K definition, a maximum number of frames per second increased to 60 FPS or even significantly faster loading times. If these small changes convinced some to buy the game, others were disappointed by the lack of new features.

However, the game is no longer exactly the same as on older console generations, since it seems that Rockstar has made a change he did not openly announce. Indeed, users have discovered that Rockstar Games has quietly removed some controversial content from the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of GTA 5. The content in question includes several transphobic jokes and stereotypes which LGBTQ+ group OutMakingGames previously asked Rockstar Games to remove in an open letter. In particular, he felt that the game put forward ” extremely harmful stereotypes “which encourage” players to be repelled by them and even take pleasure in hurting and killing them “.

Rockstar Removes GTA V Jokes About LGBTQ+ Community

From netizens spotting the change, it seems clear that Rockstar specifically targeted NPCs with bad taste jokes, since their dialogues deemed problematic were removed from the game.

According to @kirstycloud on Twitter, Rockstar has ” disabled transgender caricatures or “drag queens” to prevent them from spawning outside of Cockatoos about the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of Grand Theft Auto V. She added that if these NPCs are always present in Director mode, dialogue options that allowed characters to ask NPCs about their hormone use have been disabled.

As a reminder, GTA V has been available on PS5 and Xbox Series X since March 14, 2022. For those who don’t like the digital versions, a boxed version arrived on April 12 at the usual retailers.
