If Halo Infinite’s free multiplayer mode is making the community cringe right now for these Christmas cosmetics microtransactions, the solo campaign of the title rather received despite these few flaws. As we noted in our full review, this new Master Chief adventure has certain qualities, starting with its gameplay, but still bears the brunt of its six years of development, with a relatively poor and simplistic open world. and the inexcusable absence of certain features, such as the ability to replay levels at will.

Side scenario, the story can be followed without displeasure, even if in the opinion of many players, this campaign clearly lacks fishing and moments of bravery and heroism as only Halo knew the secret. Despite everything, fans have already explored the new Halo Zeta up and down to find any easter egg or reference hidden by the developers of 343 Industries.

Cropped cutscene found in game files

And precisely, the YouTuber GameCheat13 decided to go further by digging directly into game files. Indeed, the dataminer discovered there a deleted cinematic sequence, which should normally appear in the middle of the end-of-game credits. Be careful, if you don’t want to be spoiled, we advise you to stop reading from now on.

In this cut scene which lasts about thirty seconds, we see the pilot of the Pelican Fernando Esparanza aka Echo 216 picking up an allied signal coming from the USNC. We hear the following sound: “USNC tag detected. Designation: Friend ”. Unsurprisingly, it did not take less to thrill the fans, who quickly issued an avalanche of theories regarding this short sentence.

For some, this is a direct reference to the cooperative mode of the campaign, which as a reminder will not be available until May 2022, as unfortunately announced by 343 Industries. For others, this cinematic sequence announces the potential arrival of an extension of the campaign. Some are crossing their fingers and already hoping a return of the Arbiter, which only appears in Halo Infinite via an easter egg. Either way, it’s unclear why the developers chose to remove this footage.
