Perhaps The Curse of the Heir not Rowling’s best work and, perhaps, Chris Columbus is not the best director who has worked on the film saga of Harry Potter but, for the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone, Variety interviewed the director of the first two films, who said he was ready to direct the “missing film”.

Chris Columbus would like to direct the Harry Potter and Curse of the Heir movie

During the interview, when it came to the prequels to the saga (Fantastic Beasts), Columbus was asked if he thinks there will ever be more Harry Potter films.

“I’d love to direct The Curse of the Heir” Columbus replied. “It’s a fantastic piece of work and the guys are actually the right age to play those roles. It’s my fantasy. “

The director also talked about what it was like to work with the young cast of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint.

“In the first film, there wasn’t much professional experience between the three protagonists” Columbus said. “That’s why that movie was full of so many cuts. For the first three months, I was really only able to shoot a close-up of one of the actors before they lost concentration. The first two weeks, all the kids were so excited to be a part of the “Harry Potter” movie, they were basically just smiling at the cameras. I couldn’t stop them smiling, and it really became an exercise and acting lesson for me as a director. (…) They got very professional when they got to “The Chamber of Secrets”, and then when we did “The Prisoner of Azkaban”, you could basically shoot the whole movie in 15 individual takes if you wanted to. “
