There is also space for subtitles in as many languages, as well as the system of audio description for people with vision problems.
Synopsis and chapters of The Mosquito Coast
The series was released on April 30, 2021, although as we mentioned previously, it was after a long wait after its announcement years ago. Apple, like many other platforms, does not indicate the number of viewers who have followed the series, although based on the criticism of experts in the sector and by reviews from viewers in various forums, we could say that it has had a good reception since its premiere.
As we indicated at the beginning, the series is based on the homonymous novel written by Paul Theroux and is the second adaptation made after the 1980s film starring Harrison Ford, although with its own elements introduced for the series. The story itself revolves around the fictional inventor Allie Fox, a charismatic character with deep-rooted ideals that make him always be against corruption and bad practices in general.
Precisely those principles make Allie have to flee the United States as a result of a problem in which you have been involved. The very government of the country is in search of him and in his flight he decides to be accompanied by his wife and children on a journey through Mexico that will be anything but quiet. A series that mixes trhiller with drama and that, at least in our opinion, goes from less to more offering more and more hook to the plot.
Main characters and actors
Justin theroux He leads the cast of the series and it is no coincidence that he is the nephew of Paul Theroux, who originally wrote the novel on which the series is based. His role as an actor has allowed him to participate in some productions such as Inland Empire or the series The Leftovers, although he stood out more behind the cameras as a screenwriter in major productions such as Iron Man 2. In this series he plays Allie fox, the father of the family and main protagonist who makes his family have to follow him in his flight from the United States.
Melissa george plays Margot, Allie’s wife. The actress became known in the early 90s for her character as Angel Brooks in the series Home and Away, adding in her career numerous roles in films and other series such as Grey’s Anatomy. Although undoubtedly his greatest recognitions came for series such as Alias or The Slap.
Logan polish Y Gabriel Bateman they play in the series a Dyne Y Charlierespectively, the children of the Fox couple who also accompany them on the adventure through La Costa de los Mosquitos. These actors, despite their youth, carry several appearances in movies and series behind them. Logan participated when she was very young in The Astronaut Farmer, while Gabriel, despite being younger than her, has a few episodic roles in some series such as Grey’s Anatomy or films like Annabelle.

Will there be season 2 with new episodes?
When the broadcast of the first season had not even finished, Apple gave the green light to the production company of the series to create a second season. At the time of publishing this article, more information is unknown about when it will be shot, when it will be released, what characters will participate and how the plot will continue. Although according to the way the last chapter of the first ended, it is clear that the scriptwriters intended to continue the story at some point.
If we stick to what Apple TV + has done with other series on its platform, we could guess that this season will premiere at least in 2022. And we say this as “at least” due to the lack of information we discussed earlier. In 2021 it is ruled out for not being shot and because of how risky it would be to finish production in such a short time, while in 2022 it seems more feasible, although it will also depend on other premieres that the platform wants to broadcast in that year and which one gives greater relevance.
