Hitachi Vantara presents its solutions to simplify the private cloud

The right cloud strategy accelerates an organization’s ability to deliver data-driven experiences by providing on-demand access to a range of data processing, management, analytics, and storage applications. But the cloud is complex, with different operating models, legacy infrastructures, talent shortages, and security and compliance issues. On that journey to the cloud, Hitachi Vantara has just introduced new cloud services and operating models, promising “best-in-class performance and resiliency.”

In this sense, the multinational has announced new hybrid cloud products and services designed for data-driven organizations that want to automate and simplify their infrastructure and operations to capture the full value of the cloud operating model across on-premises, near-cloud, and public cloud. Among its main announcements are the following:

  • Virtual Storage Software Block (VSS Block)a software-defined data platform that extends your virtual storage platform to cloud-native applications
  • VSP-E1090a next-generation midrange storage series with new virtual storage capabilities virtual storage scaling capabilities
  • Hitachi Ops Center Clear Sightan AI-powered cloud management tool to support the Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform with simplified cloud-based reporting and analytics
  • Hitachi CloudConnecta cloud-like solution with deep public cloud integration that extends the data fabric to support cloud applications from leading public cloud providers
  • Unified Compute Platform RSthe latest “cloud in a box” hyperconverged offering and its cloud data protection appliance to ensure the security of your data across your hybrid cloud operating model.

Virtual Storage Software Block (VSS Block)

Hitachi’s Virtual Storage Software Block (VSS Block) is a new software-defined data platform that provides cloud agility and scalable storage support for traditional and cloud-native applications running on commodity x86 servers.

Running on Hitachi’s universal Storage Virtualization Operating System (SVOS), VSS Block provides customers with a single data plane across their midrange, enterprise and software-defined storage portfolio. VSS Block connects with your near-cloud offerings and ultimately extends to the public cloud.

New Near-Cloud services for cloud applications

Hitachi Cloud Connect enables customers to get the best of both worlds with the speed and reliability of enterprise-class storage along with the provisioning and scaling of public cloud computing.

Leveraging the benefits of hosted near cloud environments with highly connected data centers for hybrid cloud use cases including compute scaling, data protection and disaster recovery, Hitachi Cloud Connect enables the extension from your data network to the cloud with the ability to support cloud-resident applications on Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure Cloud.

E1090 VSP: Performance, Capacity, Ease of Use, and Clustering at Scale

The latest addition to Hitachi Vantara’s mid-range portfolio, the E1090 VSP offers continuous innovation and expansion to support larger configurations and further consolidation.

Offering the lowest latency of any mid-range NVMe storage on the market at 41µs and 8.4M IOPs throughput, non-disruptive in-place data migration, simplified monitoring and management, and fast self-installation, the VSP E1090 delivers performance, capacity, ease of use, resistance and peace of mind. Hitachi Replication Plug-in for Containers automates storage replication between Kubernetes clusters and storage systems located at different sites, enabling your organization to take a self-service approach.

Hyperconvergence and “Cloud in a Box”

The Hitachi Unified Compute Platform (UCP) family of converged and hyperconverged solutions now offers cloud-in-a-box functionality, enabling enterprises to improve application deployment time, drive operational simplicity and reduce costs through flexibility cloud computing, intelligent automation, and scalable performance.
