Hogwarts Legacy is presented as an open-world role-playing game. Its development has been the same as an intergenerational transition title, which means that it will be available for PS4, P5, Xbox One, Xbox Series XS, Nintendo Switch and PC. Like so many other intergenerational titles, it will use the graphics engine Unreal Engine 4.
Said graphics engine has become one of the most important to face this transition stage that, as many of our readers will know, we have been facing since the launch of PS5 and Xbox Series SX in 2020. It offers numerous advantages and facilitates this type of developments intended for different generations, but it is a graphics engine that needs deep optimization so as not to cause problems.
This makes me think, after seeing the requirements of Hogwarts Legacy, that this title might not be well optimized, since such requirements are quite highas we will see below.
Hogwarts Legacy Minimum Requirements
- Windows 10 64-bit.
- Intel Core i5-6600 or AMD Ryzen 5 1400 processor.
- 16 GB of RAM.
- GeForce GTX 960 or Radeon RX 470 graphics card with 4 GB of graphics memory.
- DirectX 12.
- 85 GB of storage capacity.
With this configuration it will be possible to play it in 720p with low quality and 30 stable FPS. The correct equivalent to the Core i5-6600 would be a Ryzen 3 1300X, and the GeForce GTX 960 is equivalent to a Radeon R9 285.
Hogwarts Legacy Recommended Requirements
- Windows 10 64-bit.
- Intel Core i7-8700 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor.
- 16 GB of RAM.
- GeForce GTX 1080 Ti or Radeon RX 5700 XT or Intel Arc A770 graphics card.
- DirectX 12.
- 85 GB of SSD storage capacity.
If we have this configuration we can play it in 1080p with high quality and 60 FPS. The equivalences are fine in general terms.
Requirements for ultra mode
- Windows 10 64-bit.
- Intel Core i7-10700K or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X processor.
- 32 GB of RAM.
- GeForce RTX 2080 Ti or Radeon RX 6800 XT graphics card.
- DirectX 12.
- 85 GB of SSD storage capacity.
With this equipment we will be able to play in 1440p with maximum quality and keep 60 FPS. There is a graphics card mismatch as the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti has the closest equivalent to the Radeon RX 6700 XT.
Requirements for ultra 4K mode
- Windows 10 64-bit.
- Intel Core i7-10700K or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X processor.
- 32 GB of RAM.
- GeForce RTX 3090 Ti or Radeon RX 7900 XT graphics card.
- DirectX 12.
- 85 GB of SSD storage capacity.
This level of hardware will allow us to play on 4K with maximum quality and maintain 60 FPS. There is no major error in the equivalencies.
Hogwarts Legacy is scheduled to launch on Feb. 10, and will be compatible with NVIDIA’s DLSS 3 technology.
