It arrived at the end of 2022 and has been one of the names most enjoyed by gamers since then. A Plague Tale Requiem that has once again set the bar for Asobo Studio very high while waiting for a sequel… or for another title that follows in the footsteps of this saga. Now, despite the positive reviews, it still owed us all a mode with a higher frame rate. And has it arrived?
Finally 60 fps arrives!
As we tell you, and although it went unnoticed by the vast majority, A Plague Tale Requiem yesentered the market with a maximum cap of 30 frames per second in all its versions, both on PC and Xbox Series X and PS5, something that was justified by the enormous work that the computer and console were subjected to at the moments in which the famous rats appear on the screen.
Keep in mind that for this second part we went from seeing them on the screen in Innocence about 5,000 of these rodents, to infinite masses that were close to 300,000 within Requiem. So imagine all the power that was needed to really move all that cluster of graphics with minimal smoothness. So that rate of frames per second was set to 30.
Now, Asobo Studio has added to A Plague Tale Requiem a performance mode within all its versions so that those 30 frames per second become 60, although there are some limitations with which the French technically play to meet that 60 fps goal without putting the rest of the group at risk. Do you know how?
If you have seen the video that you have just above, you will have noticed some things that are small trapsingenious tricks to have part of the game at 60 fps but leaving the most delicate at 30. That is, that rat infestations continue to appear on screen with half frames per second, so a strange desynchronization effect is produced between the part of the screen that we perceive to be more fluid and the other that obviously is not. And the same goes for NPCs.
How do I activate 60 fps?
Whether you have a PC, an Xbox Series X or a PS5, you will be able to access this new mode thanks to update 1.5 that has arrived in the last few hours, so it verifies that the customer of A Plague Tale Requiem has applied it correctly and, if not, go look for it in the official store of your platform to download it and install it correctly.
Although this process is usually automatic, if you are not one of those who leaves your console idle, it is possible that you did not download it in the background, so you could start the game without the patch applied. As soon as you are sure that you already have it installed, You just have to start the game and in the configuration options, choose the performance mode. So you can enjoy those general 60 frames per second… except for the infinite hordes of rats and the movements of the NPCs, which are also maintained with half the frames of the rest of the elements that appear on the screen.
