If you want to use a different web browser than the one offered by default on your smartphone, handling is very simple.
Tired of having to use Chrome or Safari on mobile? Would you like to find your habits, your favorites and your synchronized tabs as soon as you open a link to a web page?
If you are fan of Firefox, Opera or Microsoft Edge, changing your default browser on iOS and Android is not complicated, follow the guide.
On iOS and iPadOS
To use an alternative browser on iOS or iPadOS, you must first have downloaded one. Then, here is the procedure:
- Go to the app Settings.
- At the bottom of the list, find the parameter menu dedicated to your favorite browser and click on it.
- Then go to Default browser app and choose your favorite software.
It’s that simple. From now on, all your links will open in the chosen app, whether from Twitter, Facebook or elsewhere. You can also put a shortcut to your browser in the dock for quick access.
On Android the handling is more or less the same on iOS.
- Go to your app Settings.
- Go to the section Apps and notifications.
- Click on Default apps.
- Click on Navigator
- Choose your favorite app
Your links will now open in the app of your choice. Some browsers even offer light versions, capable of running within a third-party application and which allows you to consult a web page without having to launch a full browser.
