How to fill out the profile of the Health app on the iPhone

With the arrival of iOS 17, all Apple devices will experience significant improvements in the Health app. However, if you still don’t know how to take advantage of it, In this post we will start with the most basic: configure the application profile with our data.

Setting up your profile in the Health app on iPhone is very easy. It consists of several sections roughly, which we are going to explain in this post, so that later you can have the most important information already configured and accessible immediately.

First of all: fill in our personal data

Our Health app tab consists of two parts. And the first one is our information. Here we will have to fill in contact information. To do this, we will have to open the Health app, go to the upper right part of the screen and click on our profile picture. This is the same one that we have assigned to our Apple ID.

Once we are in this section, we will see a series of options that we will have to choose from. We have to select the first one, called Health Profile. When we are in this menu, we will see the following data that we have to fill in. It is not mandatory to fill it all out. To start entering our data we have to go again to the upper right part of the screen, and Click on the Edit button. Here we will have the following to fill in:

  • Name
  • Surnames
  • Birthdate
  • Sex
  • Blood type
  • Phototype
  • Applications that collect data on wheelchair use
  • Names of medicines that can affect heart rhythm

Second step: Fill in our medical data and emergency contacts

If we go back to the main interface of the Health app, tWe have to go to the Medical Data section. Here we will see a completely different panel of options from the one that came out in the previous section. Here we will have to fill in the following sections:

  • medical conditions
  • medical notes
  • Allergic reactions
  • Current medication we are taking
  • Blood type
  • Organ donor
  • Weight
  • Height
  • First language
  • emergency contacts

In the same way that we have to fill in all this, we also have to give permissions in the Emergency access section. In this case we will have to select if we want (or not) that our medical data be shown with the screen locked, in the event that we cannot call emergencies. We can also choose whether we want to share our medical information when we are talking to emergency services.

To add emergency contacts, we will have to select the Add emergency contact option, within the Emergency contacts section. If we click on that option, our contact list will open.

We are going to see all the people that we have added to our contact list. To add someone, all we have to do is click on the name we want. But here comes something very interesting. And it is that when we assign a contact as emergencies, the iPhone will ask us the role of this person. Is he our father? A friend? Our partner?

This really helps because when the iPhone goes into emergency mode, it will show this list of contacts that can be called even if the iPhone is locked. And at all times, even if we cannot call the emergency services, whoever does it for us will also know who they can contact.
