However, there are options in the iWork suite that allow add password to our documents with the aim of giving users more security and privacy is the possibility when it comes to showing the documents.

You can assign a password to a document so that only those who know the password can open the document. Passwords can consist of almost any combination of numbers and uppercase or lowercase letters, as well as special keyboard characters. The process consists of five steps shown below:

  1. We have finished processing the document in question.
  2. You select “More”the More button marked with three dots, top right.
  3. We choose “Set password”.
    1. Only one password can be assigned to each document. If you change the existing password when sharing the document with other people, the new password replaces the original one. If you add a password after sharing a document, be sure to notify other participants.
  4. We enter the password twice, once to save and once to confirm that you have entered the password correctly. We can activate access through Touch ID or Face ID.

If you want disable password, you have to perform a similar process. On the one hand, you select the document and click on change the password, previously adding the necessary information to access the document. Once inside the document, click the More button and choose change password and disable request password. Type the old password and click OK.

As in iOS or iPadOS, you can assign a password to a document so that only those who know it can open the document under the same configuration premises that you have in the other two operating systems mentioned. Remember that there is no way to recover the password if you forget it The process is the following:

  2. In the “File” menu at the top, we choose “Define password…”.
  3. We enter the password twice, if we want we enter a hint to remember it and we activate or not the access with Touch ID in the event that the equipment has a keyboard with that functionality.
  4. Click on “Define password”. You can save this password to your keychain so you don’t have to type it every time you open it.

To remove a password, you have to click on Select File and click on change Password. Type the old password, and then click “Remove password”. To modify the password, select File and click on change password and enter the requested information and then click “Change Password”.
