Notifications on our Apple devices are one of the biggest distractions we have today, especially because they jump on the home screen of our iPhone and Mac. Next, we are going to analyze how we can limit notifications.
Notification management on iPhone and iPad
Unfortunately, there isn’t direct mechanism to turn off notifications from your iPhone and iPad, but since iOS 15/iPadOS 15 there is mechanisms that allow you to deactivate, group all notifications at a certain hour of the day, so that, not lose concentration every time you receive a new notification. The process consists of Next steps:
- Open the Settings app and go to notifications.
- Click Scheduled Summary.
- Turn on Scheduled Summary.
- Select Continue.
- Next, you have to select the applications that you want to include in your Summary.
- Finally, set the time at which you want the Summary to appear and tap on activate the summary of notifications.
On the other hand, you can manage notifications from the lock screen or from the notification center. To deactivate the arrival of messages or warnings, you have to perform the following Next steps:
- Swipe left over a notice or group of notices.
- Press Options and select from these options:
- mute 1 hour
- mute today
- See settings
- Deactivate
Mac notifications
Currently, there are two ways to manage notifications on your Mac. To do this, you have to tap on the d window.e “Notifications and concentration” In it, you can determine that applications or web pages do you want to No issue notifications and in what circumstances they want you to be notified of certain reminders or notices. Within this window, you have access to the following options:
- Show previews: here you can select where we want the notifications to be displayed. We have three options to be able to choose where we are going to see them: do not show the previews / only show them when the Mac is unlocked, or that they are shown, even if we have the session blocked.
- Allow notifications when the screen is idle: this option allows only the text balloons are shown, but the rest of the screen is off.
- Allow notifications when the screen is locked: In this case we have an option similar to the previous one, but here the session of our user is blocked.
- Allow notifications when screen is mirrored or shared: if we have our Mac screen sharing through an application, or through AirPlay on an Apple TV, or if we use our Mac on an external screen and that this is a mirror of our main screenwe can choose if the notifications will be seen (or not).
It is true that the mechanism that we have indicated above does not allow you to cancel all notifications, but, they exist alternative methods that prevents the arrival of notifications. To turn it off, go to an app on System settings, in the window of notifications select the app. Then, disable all options that emit some kind of notification.
However, it is important to note that not all apps send notificationstherefore, if there are applications that are not within this option, it is because that option is not included and therefore, it does not make sense that you can deactivate it.
