CES 2022. HP Elite Dragonfly G3 is the new version of another of the models that are destined to reign in the group of battle ultraportables. If there’s one laptop marketing term you’ll see a lot this year, it’s “hybrid work.” This is a good sample of it with a thickness mark and really impressive weight under 1 kilogram.
The HP Elite Dragonfly G3 changes from the previous generation convertible to the “pure” notebook. Your screen is 13.5 inch and bet on a 3: 2 aspect ratio more suitable for computing tasks. The manufacturer offers three panels to choose from, a 400-nit FHD IPS, a 1000-nit IPS with an HP Sure View privacy screen and a top-of-the-range OLED 3K2K.
Intel’s new Alder Lake processors preside over the internal configuration. Supports up to 32GB LPDDR5 memory (soldered to motherboard) or up to 2 TB of PCIe solid storage 3 × 4 NVMe.
It features two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a USB 3.1 Type-A port, an HDMI 2.0 port, and a 3.5mm headphone / microphone audio jack. It comes standard with support for a Wi-Fi 6E that you will see this year in all new equipment of a certain level and Bluetooth 5.2. HP offers optional support for NFC, 4G LTE, and up to the fifth generation of mobile networks.
Adapting to the needs of users who need to work anytime or anywhere, the HP Elite Dragonfly G3 adds enhancements for video conferencing and collaboration. For it, HP has assembled a 5 megapixel webcam with Auto Frame, which helps keep the camera focused on your face even if it is moving.
The laptop also has four discrete amplifiers to create more immersive sound and dynamic voice leveling to improve clarity. AI-based noise reduction is also used to enhance audio even if the person speaking is wearing a mask such as those for protection against COVID, HP said in its presentation.
HP will offer 45Wh or 68 Wh battery options. With Windows 11 pre-installed, it hopes to go commercial in the month of March without a defined price.
This version will be joined in the spring by the Elite Dragonfly Chromebook that they have in common in the name, but which will opt for a 2-in-1 format and will be clearly focused on the business segment.
