HP markets its new Chromebooks, in portable and convertible formats

Chromebooks are today a very real alternative to Windows and macOS computers. This week we have seen several launches with the mind set on video games and models such as the ASUS Chromebook Vibe CX55 Flip show the increase in level of this series of equipment.

HP was one of the first manufacturers to market solutions for the Google platform on PCs. A few months ago it reinforced its commitment to the educational segment with several Chromebooks included in the Fortis series and now announces two new launches for the consumer entry range for complete offer on HP Chromebooks.

The first is a portable model with a screen of 15.6 inches and panels with FHD resolution. It is powered by Intel processors, Pentium or Celeronand in addition to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth it includes a good selection of ports, two USB Type C, one USB Type A, support for SD memory cards and also for headphones, as well as a webcam and stereo speakers.

HP promises a range of up to 11.5 hours and Fast Charge fast charging technology. Designed with EPEAT Gold and ENERGY STAR ratings for energy efficiency in mind, a portion of its chassis uses ocean-based and post-consumer recycled plastic, and its packaging is also sustainable. It comes in several color finishes (mineral silver, forest green and pale rose gold) and is now available for €369.

The convertible version stands out for its 13.3-inch multitouch screen, FHD resolution and a hinge system that allows you to place the screen on the keyboard to facilitate various modes of use, from laptop to tablet.

It uses a MediaTek Kompanio eight-core processor and its autonomy rises to 14 hours. With the connectivity of the previous one, it has also been built with sustainable materials such as post-consumer recycled plastic, ocean-based plastic and 50% recycled aluminum. It has EPEAT Gold and ENERY STAR certifications and its packaging is made of 100% recyclable and sustainable materials. No price has been provided, but like the laptop it should be quite cheap considering its entry-level level.

Both devices pre-install the latest version of Chrome OS and can access the platform’s own applications and also all Android applications by installing the Google Play Store client.
