A few weeks ago, Huawei had launched a new foldable smartphone, the Mate Xs 2, on the market. Unlike traditional foldable devices, the latter had the particularity of being equipped with a screen that folds outwards, rather than inwards. French customers should soon have the chance to try this smartphone, since Huawei has announced its launch on May 18 in Europe.

As a reminder, this will not be Huawei’s first foldable smartphone to be marketed outside of China. The manufacturer had already launched its Huawei P50 Pocket in Europe, but its high price and the absence of Google Mobile Services do not seem to have helped it to dethrone the current leader in this market: Samsung. This therefore suggests that the Huawei Mate Xs 2 could also be sold more expensive than its main competitor: the Galaxy Z Fold 3.

What features for the Huawei Mate Xs 2?

The Huawei Mate Xs 2 is significantly less efficient than its competitors, since it is equipped with a Snapdragon 888 processor from 2021. This is also the 4G version of the chip, since because of US sanctions, Huawei can no longer use 5G technologies on its smartphones.

The device is equipped with a 7.8-inch single OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and a definition of 2200 x 2480 pixels. When folded, the screen measures just 6.5 inches. The smartphone is powered by a 4600 mAh battery, slightly more than the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Fast charging is also more efficient, since it reaches 66 W.

On the photo side, we find a pretty compelling three-camera setup. The sensor 50 MP main is supported by a sensor 13 MP ultra wide-angle as well as by a 8 MP telephoto lens offering 3X optical zoom. The selfie part is provided by a 10.7 MP sensor. See you on May 18 to find out the price and specifics of the smartphone with us. For example, we should not take advantage of the new HarmonyOS 2.0, Huawei still preferring EMUI outside of China.
