HyperX unveils a controller for Android and PC

Dubbed The Clutch, HyperX’s versatile controller lets you pick up your games wherever you go.

HyperX is a name that is not unfamiliar to you if you are a regular gamer. This is the gaming branch of the HP brand, which mainly stands out in the audio sector thanks to high performance gaming headsets. On the occasion of CES 2022, the brand unveils a new accessory that could appeal to mobile gamers. This is an Android and PC compatible controller.

It is called The Clutch – understand an object that clings – which describes the usefulness of this controller rather well. This is the first controller that HyperX brings to us, and it has the gift of being versatile. Visually, it looks like any controller for PC, also taking the configuration of buttons characteristic of Xbox products. It also has several very useful buttons, such as the Turbo button, the usefulness of which has not been specified by HyperX.

A controller for nomads

On a PC, you can connect it with a dongle which provides you with a 2.4GHz wireless connection, or with a wired connection. This last configuration will allow you to reload the controller, or to ensure that there is no in-game latency. But once your game is over, or when you have no choice but to go out, you can take your game with you and keep having fun by hanging an expandable hook on your controller.

We can imagine that this kind of product is profitable to the maximum if you use any cloud gaming service. Among the options available to you are Xbox Cloud Gaming, Nvidia GeForce Now and Google Stadia. The controller should therefore be compatible with most games that support controllers. All types of smartphones should also be supported since the grip can extend up to 86mm wide.

On this support, you can use the on-board Bluetooth connection, and enjoy the controller for nearly 19 hours according to the manufacturer. An autonomy that should suffice even for the most invested players. At the moment, no release date has been announced, the controller is expected to hit the market around March for $ 49.99.
