I didn’t know how to control my children’s Internet use, this trick saved me from trouble

The use of the Internet is spreading in such a way that on certain occasions we must have control over this whole matter. All this is something that is especially evident in the event that we have children at home and they have the possibility of connecting at any time from the laptop, mobile phone or tablet.

The truth is that the connection has become a fundamental part of the lives of most users. Whether on a personal or more professional level, they use connected devices to access all kinds of online platforms and services at any time. But it is one thing for these types of movements to be carried out by adults, and another thing is to give absolute freedom to the smallest of the house.

I am sure that many of you have already been able to see first-hand that children today handle technology and the Internet in an amazing way. However, it is not advisable to give total freedom in this regard, especially if we take into account the means available at this time to carry out certain control tasks. A common practice is for our children to use the desktop PC or the laptop with which we normally work, to move around the Internet.

It may also happen that they have their own PC to use at school and also in their moments of entertainment. Whatever the situation, it is important to know that to keep track of what our children do on the Internet, Windows has an excellent integrated solution.

Control what your children do on the Internet easily

Specifically, we are referring to a parental control system that the Microsoft operating system provides us with pre-installed. Obviously this is the solution we are looking for to keep some control over the use that our children make of the Internet and the time they spend online. In addition, we can manage all this remotely thanks to the tools and features that Microsoft provides us here.

It is worth mentioning that to find this functionality that we are discussing, all we have to do is open the Windows Configuration application. Then we go to the Windows Security / Family Options section.

Parental control

Here the first thing we do is create an account for the minor with their date of birth so that Microsoft allows us to establish the corresponding limits. Next, we add the child’s account to the family group from Settings. With all this, what we really achieve is, through the available sections, limit the use of the Internet, block access to certain content, screen time, various prohibited applications and games, control searches and much more.

At this point we must take into account that all these rules and regulations that we establish in Windows parental control will be maintained, even if we change computers. Obviously as long as we use the same user accounts, which will prevent us from having to reconfigure everything from scratch. This way we can carry out a multitude of content blocking tasks, time control or permission assignment.
