IBM and VMware extend their agreement to further modernize the hybrid cloud

IBM and VMware have announced a extension of the collaboration agreement that they maintained until now and that is intended to make it easier for them to modernize hybrid cloud environments. As part of this expanded collaboration, IBM Consulting to be a VMware GSI PartnerIn addition, both companies will offer new jointly engineered solutions from IBM and VMware Cloud, which they will jointly develop and bring to market. IBM Consulting will provide services for the migration, modernization and management of workloads in hybrid and multicloud environments in an open and secure manner.

IBM and VMware’s goal is to help their clients in regulated industries, including financial services, healthcare and the public sector; address the cost, complexity, and risk of migrating and modernizing mission-critical workloads to the cloud. The joint offering from IBM and VMware is also intended to improve the options and level of flexibility of companies’ digital transformation strategies.

Also Joint VMware and IBM Innovation Fund Expands, which has seen the launch, through the Joint Innovation Lab born in 2018, of 10 projects focused on hybrid cloud and AI to extend the capabilities of IBM Cloud and meet customer needs for mission-critical workloads from VMware. The lab brings together the engineering, sales, marketing and enablement capabilities of the two companies, and the new agreement will extend its line of innovation for a further three years by providing additional funding for joint product and solution development.

Additionally, IBM and VMware are working on enabling IBM Cloud Satellite for VMware to support VMware workloads in any environment they run in. This improves the security of IBM Cloud services in the clients’ data center. IBM Cloud Satellite offers a secure and unified cloud services layer.
