ICEX-Invest in Spain launches its investment program, with three million euros to attract innovators

ICEX-Invest in Spain has recently announced the call for its investment program. On this occasion, the economic allocation will be three million euros, a million more than in the previous edition. The application period is open until November 12.

With the “Investment program of foreign companies in R&D activities”, ICEX-Invest in Spain aims to promote the development of new R&D activities by companies with foreign capital that want to establish themselves in Spain or those already established that intend to continue investing in research and development. The aid granted will be co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

The maximum amount of aid per beneficiary is 200,000 euros, since they are subject to the regulations of miminis, which limits the aid per company to that amount during any period of three consecutive fiscal years.

The amount depends on the size of the company and the nature of the project: it ranges from 25% for experimental development of large companies, up to 80% for experimental development projects executed by a small company in effective collaboration with other companies or with an organization. research.

Non-repayable grants

Grants will be awarded to non-refundable funds for personal expenses, costs of instruments or materials, buildings or land, acquisition of patents or licenses or other indirect costs that may be linked to the selected project.

The activities subject to aid must be carried out between January 1 and December 31, 2022 in the autonomous communities of Andalusia, the Canary Islands, Castilla-La Mancha, the Valencian Community, Extremadura, Galicia or Murcia.

In addition to foreign companies, unions of companies in which at least one of them is of foreign capital can benefit from the aid, without it being necessary for these groups to have legal personality. For the purposes of this call, a foreign capital company is understood to be one that has in its capital a participation of foreign direct investment (FDI) greater than or equal to 10%, and it is considered FDI that carried out by a legal person domiciled abroad or by a natural person not resident in Spain.

Since its inception, this program has supported more than 260 projects, has had an impact on more than 2,600 highly qualified employees and has mobilized 96 million euros of investment.

Applications for aid must be formalized through the virtual office by ICEX.
