Separate PS4 and PS5 versions
The sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn was delayed, but the people of Guerrilla are working hard to get everything ready for it. next February 18. In the meantime, users can pre-order a copy of the game, but it appears that the standard version will not include a feature that many users would expect to find.
And it is that Sony did not hesitate to emphasize that Horizon Forbidden West would not forget PS4 users, a magnificent gesture considering the community that generated the first installment, however, the care for its users does not seem to have all the pampering possible.
The problem is that standard version of the game will not include free upgrade to PS5 version. While on Xbox all Xbox Game Studios games run without problems on any type of console regardless of the version you buy, at Sony they have decided to differentiate between the cheaper versions of the game.
And is that if you currently do not have a PS5 and do not have short-term plans to get a new console, when you buy the standard version of Horizon Forbidden West you will not be able to update the day you finally buy a PS5. The option will only be available if you purchase the Digital Deluxe, Collector’s Edition or the Regalla edition. The standard version game will be priced at 69.99 euros for PS4 version and for 79.99 euros for the PS5 version. There will also be a Special Edition split across both platforms that includes the following:
Special Edition (€ 79.99 on PS4 and € 89.99 on PS5)
- SteelBook® with a hard copy on disk (choice of PS4 or PS5 edition)
- The digital soundtrack (with a code to be redeemed)
- Mini-book of illustrations.
An unwise decision
Assuming that we are talking about Sony’s own game that has suffered a severe delay to top it off, it is incredible that the brand has decided to fragment both versions into the most basic edition in order to sell more units, especially when many users follow without having a PS5 due to lack of stock.
The situation is such that today you could reserve Horizon Forbidden West for PS4 and at Christmas you will find yourself with the possibility of buying a PS5, something that would force you to buy the corresponding version of PS5 if you want to get to play the game sometime, because there will be no patch or generation change update.
