A couple of weeks ago, Microsoft released the first major Windows 11 update, 22H2, for all users of this operating system. This new version has arrived full of changes and new features that were originally planned for release but that, for various reasons, did not arrive on time. But, a few days ago, Microsoft has also launched a new update for all Windows 10 usersan update that has arrived without pain or glory and that hardly anyone has installed yet.
Microsoft has now put all its efforts into Windows 11, it is a fact. And, little by little, Windows 10 is fading into the background, despite the fact that it is still installed on 7 out of 10 computers that are in operation. This operating system will support and updates until next 2025, date on which, finally, will pass away. Until then, Microsoft will continue to release updates for this system, with the difference that instead of releasing two annual versions, as before, it will only receive one.
Thus, as part of this new support cycle, Windows 10 has just received its new version of 2022, the well-known 22H2. And it arrives, unfortunately, with hardly any news.
Changes in version 22H2 of Windows 10
This new version of Windows 10 has reached users literally without relevant changes. It is just a version change that includes all the patches and all the updates released to date and a couple of small improvements that, almost certainly, do not interest us:
- The ability to display important notifications when Focus Mode is on is coming.
- Get Windows Autopilot back up and running in scenarios where there are hardware problems.
Installing Windows 10 22H2 does not mean that we will have nothing more than any user who is still on 21H1 and has installed all the patches (security and optional) released to date.
How to install the update
There are three ways to update our computer, and we are going to see each of them from the most recommended to the least recommended to update our Windows 10.
The first thing we must do is check for the update in Windows Update. As always, this new version should arrive sooner or later through this tool as if it were just another version of the OS. Therefore, if it still does not appear, not even when performing a manual search for updates, we will simply have to wait for our turn. Or try the following method.
Another way to force the update is using the update wizard provided to us by Microsoft. This tool, which we can download from this link, allows us to forcefully download and install the new version of the operating system. We simply have to download the tool, run it, and follow the steps that appear to be able to put our system in version 22H2.
Finally, we can also use the media creation tool. This tool, which we can also download from the previous link, is designed to allow us to download an ISO image of Windows 10 to create an installation USB or install Windows in a virtual machine. But, in the wizard, we also find the possibility of updating the equipment to the latest version.
In this way, we can start enjoying the new Windows 10 22H2 and its (non-existent) news.
