IFA 2022: Huawei unveils the Nova 10 and 10 Pro, two smartphones cut out for selfies

Huawei expands its Nova range by simultaneously releasing two new smartphones. The Nova 10 and Nova 10 Pro have just been announced and are shaping up to be the brand’s new tech showcase when it comes to selfies.

Still deprived of Google services, Huawei is again trying to return to the world of telephony. Admittedly, the manufacturer had not abandoned it, but it has been extremely discreet since the release of the P50 Pro and P50 Pocket last March. If the Mate 50 has not yet been announced (will it be released, won’t it be released this year?), the manufacturer is therefore launching two new mid-range smartphones: the Nova 10 and Nova 10 Pro.

Huawei Nova 10

The Nova 10 is a fairly classy 6.67″ smartphone, both front and back. Pulsating with the help of a Snapdragon 778 and powered by a 4500 mAh battery, the device shines brightly with its colors. Quite compact with its 168 grams on the scale, the device should appeal to fans of lightweight smartphones, pleasant to hold and with a worked design.

At the rear, the Nova 10 has a 50 MP main photo module and a 60 MP ultra-wide-angle module. But Huawei has not forgotten the selfie lovers, both for the photo and for the video. At the front, we benefit from a 60 MP camera too.

The device is compatible with 66W fast charging. The appropriate charger is also included in the box.

The data sheet of the Nova 10 Pro is quite similar to that of the Nova 10. If its size is slightly higher (6.67″), we find the same Snapdragon 778, the same 4500 mAh battery and the same 50 MP rear main photo module. On the other hand, we benefit from an ultra-wide-angle of 8 MP. And it is above all with its dual 60 MP front photo sensor that the Nova 10 Pro stands out from its little brother. The smartphone is resolutely oriented towards selfie lovers, or those who need to perform streams by staging themselves at a lower cost.

Finally, and this is a great first for a Huawei smartphone: the Nova 10 Pro offers fast charging at 100W! The manufacturer provides a full charge time in 20 minutes (from 0 to 100%) for the 4500 mAh battery. As usual, we will be sure to test this charging speed as soon as the smartphone is received for testing at the editorial office.

Operating system

As with all Huawei smartphones marketed for 3 years, the Huawei Nova 10 and 10 Pro do not have Google services. On the other hand, Huawei insists that most of the most popular Play Store applications can be installed as simply as possible.

On the operating system side, the smartphones both run Android and EMUI 12. Asked by us about the IFA show, Huawei did not comment on the Android version number. As a reminder, the P50 Pro released earlier in the year was running Android 11.

Pricing and availability of the Nova 10 and 10 Pro

Regarding availability, the Nova 10 and Nova 10 Pro will be available for pre-order from September 26, 2022. The launch of the two devices is scheduled for October. It will take 499 euros to acquire the Nova 10, and 699 euros for the Nova 10 Pro.
