Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello formed between 2009 and 2013 one of the best electronic music groups in history. Following in the footsteps of Daft Punk, the three Swedes rose to fame in record time and broke up to start their solo careers. Last year, after multiple rumours, everything pointed to the SHM would return to the stage. Taking advantage of the fact that these three are back and have a lot of pull, Ikea has not hesitated to associate with these artists of his nation to bring out a rather curious product.

Its about turntable OBEGRÄNSAD, a device that is sure to excite retro lovers, especially now that it is quite fashionable to get the most important works of your favorite artists in vinyl format. Apparently, Ikea had already tried to make a record player in the past, although the result was not good enough to put it on sale. The Swedes had scrapped the idea, but its designer, Carmen Stoicescu, reckons the turntable was something of a recurring theme every time they made a brainstorming.

According to Stoicescu, the key idea that gave rise to OBEGRÄNSAD was really a Axwell’s contribution. The artist asked if it would be possible to design a turntable compact enough to give to a friend. And that, to a certain extent, changed the chip in the team. From that moment on, Ikea designers went to work on a turntable that was totally plug & play and where simplicity was the key.

After many days in which they developed a multitude of prototypes, finally, the Ikea design team came up with the final result for the OBEGRÄNSAD. It is a music system with a very minimalist. Its design shows at a glance that it can be used by anyone who has never used a turntable before.

The OBEGRÄNSAD is powered by a USB cable and can be easily connected to speakers. In addition, Ikea will sell an extra accessory for all those who want to connect the turntable to some Wireless speakers. Therefore, this product will be compatible with its famous Symfonisk range.

Regarding the price, Ikea has not yet published how much it will be worth this OBEGRÄNSAD that has been created in collaboration with Swedish House Mafia. The turntable will go on sale this fall.
