After announcing all the initiatives for Disney + Day, Disney revealed that the format IMAX Enhanced will officially debut on Mickey’s video on demand platform on November 12th, starting with movies Marvel.

for the first time ever since November 12, on the occasion of Disney + Day
November 8, 2021 – For the first time ever, fans will be able to stream some of their favorite Marvel titles at home in the IMAX Expanded Format, thanks to IMAX Enhanced on Disney +, which launches on November 12 as part of the worldwide celebration of Disney + Day.
The new collaboration was announced today by The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS), IMAX Corporation (NYSE: IMAX) and DTS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Xperi Holding Corporation (Nasdaq: XPER).
With IMAX Enhanced on Disney +:
Subscribers will get a larger image with IMAX Expanded Format across 13 Marvel titles. All they have to do is hit play;
- The IMAX Expanded Format is 1: 90: 1, which offers up to 26% more image for some selected sequences: this means that more action is visible on the screen, just as the filmmakers intended;
- Going forward, the collaboration will offer Disney + even more advanced audio and video technology, including DTS ‘signature IMAX immersive sound.
- The 13 titles available at launch include Marvel Studios Shang-Chi and Legend of the Ten Rings, which debuts on Disney + on November 12, as well as some fan-favorite MCU films such as Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy.
