Infinidat presents improvements to its InfiniGuard data protection platform

Infinidat, a multinational leader in storage solutions, today announced a new version of its data protection and management platform InfiniGuard, which incorporates significant improvements in cyber resilience thanks to the incorporation of InfiniSafe technology and doubles system performance for a modern implementation of data protection, backup, disaster recovery and business continuity. InfiniSafe’s cyber resiliency capabilities enhance the ability to combat and protect against cyberattacks and potential security breaches, uniquely combining immutable snapshots, air-gap environments, isolated networks, and near-instantaneous data recovery in a single, ultra-high-performance platform. .

“This new version of InfiniGuard ensures that enterprises and service providers are protected against ransomware, malware, insider threats, and other potential cyberattacks with a next-generation, cyber-resilient enterprise storage solution,” he said. Phil Bullinger, CEO of Infinity. “This new InfiniGuard increases cyber resilience with InfiniSafe, providing a cutting-edge backup and protection solution, setting a new standard for protection against increasingly dangerous cyber threats.”

The threat of cyberattacks continues to grow: According to a recent survey of Fortune 500 executives, 66% of them named cybersecurity as the number one threat to their business in the next three years. For its part, the specialized firm Emsisoft estimates that the average time to identify and contain a data breach is 287 days.

“If the company or service provider does not have a cyber-resilient storage solution, it can suffer significant and, in many cases, irreversible damage,” says Fernando Egido, Country Manager of Infinidat Iberia. “Enterprise data storage is clearly a priority for any organization, and can no longer be considered separately from the cybersecurity strategy.”

Following the enhancements announced today, InfiniGuard now includes logical air gapping, both local and remote, and isolated networks on a single platform. The logical “air gap” in local creates a border between source storage and immutable snapshots, while the remote air gap sends the data to an InfiniGuard system located at a remote site. For its part, the isolated network provides a secure location to perform forensic analysis of backup data sets and identify copies that do not contain malware or ransomware and can be safely restored. Once identified, data can be retrieved in a few minutes regardless of its size, and be available for near real-time restore execution.

Through the use of immutable snapshots, InfiniGuard ensures that copies of data cannot be changed, deleted or edited in any way, ensuring data integrity. Also, recovery is done in a matter of minutes, not hours or days. Immutable snapshots, along with air gaps, isolated networks, and fast recovery are made possible by InfiniSafe technology.

“We have decided to go beyond InfiniBox, Infinidat’s flagship, with the implementation of an ultra-fast backup and recovery appliance with InfiniGuard,” explains Gopala Bunga, director of Infrastructure Operations at the Hawaii Medical Service Association (HMSA), the largest health insurer in the state of Hawaii. “Since we are separated from the mainland, availability is absolutely critical to ensure the success of our operations. We are very pleased to have standardized our enterprise storage infrastructure with Infinidat.”

As part of the new improvements in InfiniGuard, Infinidat has multiplied the performance of the system by more than 2, going from the current 74 Terabytes/hour to 180. This allows backup windows to be reduced by 50%, thus minimizing the impact on primary servers, storage, and applications, as well as the time required to perform remote replication. Leveraging the common InfiniBox architecture to optimize target storage throughput and performance, InfiniGuard delivers unprecedented speed and reliability, also maximizing effective capacity for Petabyte-scale environments.
