Intel DG3 GPUs will be as fast as the best RTX 40 and RX 7000

New rumors about future Intel GPUs, which have not even debuted on the market, but there is already speculation about the next generation. In just 3 months we will see the new ARC Alchemist, commonly known as DG2, but in 2023 there will be more, since it will be the debut year for the DG3 and they place them at the height of NVIDIA and AMD in the high-end range.

It is more than clear that Intel is lagging behind in GPU, but it is also true that the same thing happened in CPU and now it is ahead again. What must be clear is that the blue giant cannot be underestimated, which plans to step on the accelerator against NVIDIA and AMD with their Battlemage GPUs.

Intel ARC Battlemage, a year after Alchemist?

The leaked information is a bit confusing, mainly because it mentions AMD and NVIDIA in less than optimistic terms and would dismiss the future work of one of them. This information is broken down into three parts that we will deal with in the same order as they are presented.

DG3 Battlemage will compete for the best performance

The leaked ensures that Intel will compete for TOP performance with their future Battlemage graphics cards, where curiously they will use the DG2 as a necessary maturity in their drivers. This is a bit strange, since for that they already have the Xe Gen 12 iGPUs and yes, it is not the same really, but they have a lot in common starting with the architecture.

Drivers are a fundamental piece in any GPU and we know that NVIDIA and AMD have hundreds of engineers at the game developer centers. Intel seems to be lagging behind in this regard, so we will have to be vigilant on this point when DG2 comes out.

Hopes pinned on 2023

This point is not just pure speculation, it is total uncertainty, since we could speak of hopes proper. Apparently Intel is extremely confident that 2023 will be the year where ARC really competes, where it seems that the DG2s that are about to come out are not going to be up to the task and Intel knows it.

There is not much else to comment on here except the fact that the most powerful version of the DG2 will compete against the new RTX 3070 Ti and the RX 6800, something that is an achievement without a doubt and not a small failure as it seems to be implied. .

Tiled-based architecture in DG3

It is the most interesting point without a doubt, because a possible use of Tiled in the purest AMD RDNA 3 style is cited. There is no information about it, but seeing the DG2 architecture the most obvious step would be to use Tiled for DG3 if, as they say rumors want to fight for the high end.

Also, Intel would make AMD bite the dust with Meteor Lake in the notebook environment. There is not too much information about Meteor Lake to think that AMD will succumb to Zen 4 in this sector, mainly because the rumors of the latter would indicate a specific die as iGPU and with RDNA 2, with a higher IPC in the Cores and with a node in theory more advanced.

AMD vs Intel vs NVIDIA

The rest is even more speculative if possible, because it is claimed that Battlemage aims to beat Ada Love Lace, which would be not one, but two steps ahead of Intel in a single generation and about a year apart.

To top it off, a rather shocking fact is cited: AMD and its RX 7000s would not be real competition, something surprising when precisely AMD will be ahead in MCM architectures. How much truth is there in this leak? Impossible to know, but what we have been seeing only becomes more realistic in that the status quo would remain in 2022 and 2023 with Intel DG3 despite stepping on the accelerator.
