Intel will suspend employment and pay to employees who do not get vaccinated

Intel joins companies that will take action against employees who decide not to get vaccinated. According to the Associated Press, all its workers that they are still without vaccinating they will have to, or get a duly justified exemption for not getting vaccinated, before next January 4. If they don’t, the company suspend them from employment and salary indefinitely.

The company announced this to its workers on December 7 through a statement. In her Head of Human Resources at Intel, Christy Pambianchi It pointed out that unvaccinated employees must have an exemption or take a test every week, and they will have to do it even if they work from home.

The company will review religious or medical exemption requests until March 15, 2022. If an employee is not approved for the exemption, they will be suspended from employment and pay for a minimum of three months beginning April 4. , but they will not be fired. In addition, it will continue to provide them with health insurance and other health benefits.

The vaccine requirement at Intel was decided in compliance with President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandate mandate for companies with more than 100 employees. However, federal courts are still debating whether a blanket mandate like this is constitutional. That is why many companies have not yet decided to take the step and are waiting to see how events unfold.

However, there are others who have already stepped forward and decided to take action with their unvaccinated workers. Google has told its employees that they must get vaccinated or get a medical or religious exception for it before January 13. If they are not then they could be suspended from employment and pay and even fired, something they will not do at Intel.

Meanwhile, other companies, such as Goal Y Microsoft, have confirmed that when they open their offices in the United States, at some point in 2022, only workers who are vaccinated will be able to access them, although it seems that finally they will also opt for forcing them. Other companies that will require vaccination to access their offices are Cisco, Red hat, Salesforce, Twitter or Uber. Apple has yet to say anything about it, although it requires its employees to get tested regularly.
