Last week, our colleagues at Bloomberg reported that Apple was considering selling its iPhones, iPads and other products through a monthly subscription. Apple shareholders had already raised the idea as early as 2019, but it now seems that the American giant is ready to set up such packages from the end of the year or the beginning of next year.

This new offer should not be confused with the various subscriptions that Apple already offers, including in particular Apple One, this all-in-one subscription that includes Apple Music, Arcane, TV and iCloud services. Indeed, this is a subscription that would allow you touse an iPhone without ever having to invest a large sum of money.

How much would an iPhone 14 subscription cost?

According to journalist Mark Gurman, who is generally very knowledgeable, Apple could base the price of its subscription on its iPhone upgrade program that spreads the cost of a phone over 24 months. As a reminder, once the 24 months have passed, the telephone becomes your property, but this would not be the case on the new rental program.

Apple’s new subscription would not allow you to own a device, even after paying several monthly payments. So, based on the already existing offer, an iPhone 14 could cost about 35 dollars per month. An iPhone 14 Pro would cost $45 a month, and an iPhone 14 Pro Max at $50 a month.

Over 12 months, an iPhone 14 Pro Max would therefore cost you $600. The main advantage of this subscription would be the possibility of changing smartphones every year. So you could spend around $600 a year if you want the most powerful model, and $420 for a regular iPhone 14.

However, you will not be able to resell your smartphone. This subscription would therefore not necessarily be the cheapest option if you keep your smartphone for several years before reselling it. Customers will have to choose between pay more for a long-term subscriptionbut change smartphone every year, or buy a smartphone that they can resell several years later.
