The iPhone 14 Pro continue to unveil itself. According to a renowned analyst, Apple would rely on a 48-megapixel wide-angle photo sensor on its future smartphones in order to offer 8K.
Several months before the keynote, leaks and rumors concerning the iPhone 14 are already increasing on the web. Recently, we learned that Apple would replace the notch on the iPhone 14 Pro with a hole in the screen similar to what has already been found in the competition for several years.
More recently, a well-known analyst called Jeff Pu gave information regarding the device’s spec sheet for the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, the two top-of-the-line models of the next generation. The expert claims that Apple will rely on 48 MP wide-angle main sensor, a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor as well as a 12 MP telephoto lens.
A 48 megapixel photo sensor for filming in 8K on the iPhone 14 Pro
In a new note relayed by MacRumors, Ming-Chi Kuo, the analyst specializing in Apple products, corroborates Jeff Pu’s predictions. For the first time, Apple would integrate a 48-megapixel wide-angle main lens on his smartphones. For the record, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max still had to be content with a 12-megapixel wide-angle sensor.
On the iPhone 14 Pro, Apple would use a technology called “pixel binning”. Already used on several Android smartphones, including the Pixel 6, this technology consists of combining several solar cells into a single larger and brighter photosite. In this case, it should be able to take 48-megapixel photos in bright conditions and 12-megapixel photos in low-light conditions in order to preserve quality.
Thanks to a 48 megapixel sensor, the iPhone 14 Pro would also be able to film footage in 8K, against 4K for current editions. The addition of 8K would be linked to the release of the virtual and augmented reality headset Apple Glass. The accessory would indeed be able to broadcast content in 8K.

Finally, Ming-Chi Kuo briefly mentions the technical sheet of the future iPhone 15. Reiterating the conclusions of a previous report, he assures us that Apple will use a periscope telephoto lens on the most premium models of this future range, expected in the fall of 2023.
