IQS Tech Factory launches a package of actions to promote entrepreneurship

reinforce the community entrepreneurship has always been one of the goals of IQS. For this reason, its innovation and entrepreneurship division, IQS Tech Factory, has developed a series of innovative activities.

With the aim of publicizing in more detail the new actions that promote entrepreneurship, on May 12 the first IQSTFTalks x VICIO with Oriol de Pablo, Alumni IQS and founding partner of Vicio. The talk was joined by Albert Vilà, creative director, and Pablo Amade, creator of the brand and expert in branding. During the session they shared with the attendees the process of creating the company, its groundbreaking branding and how this has determined its subsequent marketing strategy.

The purpose of IQS Tech Factory is inspire, train, incubate and accelerate talent entrepreneur through different initiatives that provide support and tools to develop a project from the initial phases to its release on the market. One of these actions are the IQSTF Talks, talks and round tables on current issues and inspiring debates with disruptive professionals.

The Teatro de Sarrià, in Barcelona, ​​hosted the first talk with entrepreneurs by former IQS student Oriol de Pablo, co-founder of the successful startup Vicio. A business born in the midst of a pandemic that has had exponential growth thanks to a disruptive digital and communication strategy. In the words of De Pablo himself “Vicio’s main asset is its brand. Behind an idea there is always a story. 81% of brands could disappear and consumers would not know”. In that sense Vicio has gone beyond selling hamburgers, first at home and now also in its seven stores, the company has changed the narrative through provocation and brand relevance.

Brand building process

During the session, Oriol de Pablo spoke about the birth of the company and its meteoric growth. For his part, Pablo Amade shared the process of creating the brand, from the name to its already iconic typography and powerful imagery. And the session ended with the creative director of the company, Albert Vilà, who spoke to the attendees about Vicio’s marketing strategy and the importance of this coherence between image, messages and actions.

“Entrepreneurship is not easy, you must be resilient, committed and visionary. It is clear that it is not for everyone, but it can change your life” claimed of Paul. “There is no age to start a business, but for me the following premise is fulfilled: from 20 to 30 approach a leader, from 30 to 40 do what you are good at, and from 40 teach what you you know”.

As advice for future entrepreneurs, the co-founder of Vicio focused on the importance of people: “Talent is everything. Whoever has the best talent wins, so to undertake my advice is to surround yourself with a good team, but always with a long look and a short step”. To which Pablo Amade added “One of the keys is that the team can contribute different backgrounds, because that difference of opinions enriches the project”. For his part, Albert Vilà concluded “No one is born entrepreneurial, you have to launch yourself”.

In addition to the IQSTF Talks, in which talks and round tables on current issues and inspiring debates with disruptive professionals will be promoted, IQS Tech Factory will also carry out other actions:

  • IQSTF Ideas: actions related to idea contests, hackathons and visits to companies.
  • IQSTF How-to Pills: training capsules on specific topics during the academic year.
  • IQSTF Start-up Challenge: IQS’s own program that will take place during the summer months, where several projects by students from the center will be selected to develop their business idea.

Since IQS Tech Factory the innate entrepreneurial spirit among many of its students is supported not only through mentoring and incubators but also through its acceleration program. This new proposal of actions wants to inspire and accompany the IQS community so that they can carry out their business idea.
