Ironhack and Amazon Despega offer digital training scholarships to SMEs and freelancers

The technology training school, Ironhack, joins Amazon Despega, a free online training program for entrepreneurs and SMEs, in the delivery of scholarships for a total value of 165,000 euros. These grants, the amount of which will depend on the student, will be used to complete a course of Web Development, Data Analysis, UX / UI Design or Cybersecurity at Ironhack, in person or remotely, on its Madrid and Barcelona campuses.

In Spain, the self-employed (3.2 million) and small and medium-sized companies (2.8 million) make up the bulk of business activity and many of its sectors have been shaken by the pandemic. In this sense, online sales channels and the digital field are positioned as the ideal solution to attract new customers and increase sales.

However, the lack of knowledge in these areas and of seed funding are some of the main barriers encountered. These scholarships are intended to democratize technology education and train entrepreneurs and SMEs with new digital skills, in a practical way and with full focus on the current market.

As it explains Tiago santos, Head of Iberia at Ironhack, «We believe that technological education should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their prior knowledge and economic status. Through this collaboration with Amazon, we expand the training offer of the Despega program in the IT field, in areas such as Cybersecurity, web development and design or data analysis. In this way, we equip them with the skills they need to be successful. “

For his part, the director of Services for Commercial Collaborators of Amazon in Europe, Xavier Flamand, has ensured that, through this collaboration, “We want to continue supporting Spanish companies to develop the necessary skills to sell globally and to lay the foundations of online sales to be successful for years either with Amazon or through other online services “.

With this collaboration, Ironhack joins other entities, such as IE University, ICEX, CEPYME and AECOC, which have already collaborated with Amazon in the Despega program since its launch in 2020 to help SMEs and entrepreneurs to make the leap to online sales.
