it could be presented as early as May

Google would waste no time in 2022 and could unveil its affordable version of the Pixel 6 in the spring. The Pixel 6a would arrive in May, along with the Pixel Watch.

Google made an impression at the end of the year by launching the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, two particularly convincing high-end models. The Mountain View company has also become accustomed to offering more affordable models in the mid-range segment. These variations are marked “a” and the scenario should repeat itself in 2022.

According to the insider Max Jambor, the Pixel 6a could even land earlier than expected on the market. He claims that the Google Pixel 6a will be presented in May, which could coincide with the organization of the Google I/O. The annual conference traditionally takes place at this time and the last edition allowed the firm to discuss Android 12 or the redesign of Wear OS. This year, the American Internet giant could present new hardware and offer a successor to the discreet Pixel 5a. Rather enticing, this model was content with being released in a handful of countries and never arrived in Europe.

In France, we are still waiting for a replacement for the Pixel 4a and Pixel 4a 5G to support the brand’s latest devices. We can also expect the Pixel 6a to offer a design similar to that of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The Tensor chip should also be present while the 3.5mm jack will disappear for the first time in this range. On the photo side, the results would be a little less flattering than on Google’s flagship models. The first returns evoke the presence of a main sensor of 12.2 megapixels, coupled with ultra wide-angle of 12 megapixels. The Pixel 6a is said to be smaller than the top-end models, sporting a 6.2-inch AMOLED display.

A Pixel Watch to accompany the Pixel 6a?

Another highly anticipated announcement, the Pixel Watch could appear at the same time. According to Jon Prosser, it would be released on May 26 and would finally allow the Mountain View giant to enter the world of connected watches. After the takeover of Fitbit and the merger with Samsung around Wear OS, Google is expected to continue to develop its ecosystem through the launch of a new connected accessory.

While waiting for a confirmation from the company, it remains to be hoped that Google manages to fix the bugs that accompanied the update of December on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The manufacturer had been forced to suspend its deployment, before proposing a new update. Deployed since mid-January, it must correct the problems of December and bring new functionalities.
