It’s not your iPhone, Instagram is giving you problems with the sound

Origin of the problem in Stories, Reels and publications

It is normal that, when a new iPhone or a large version of iOS is released, applications like Instagram take a few weeks to optimize. Whether at the interface or functional level, since it is usually one of the apps that causes the most problems with unexpected closures or problems like the one we described in reference to the audio of the Stories or the Reels.

However, we are already on iOS 15.3.1 and the problems with the audio persist. I personally have been checking in the first person on my iPhone 13 Pro Max for months, but I am aware of other people who have the same thing happen to them in different terminals. Therefore, although we cannot say that it is a general problem that affects everyone, it does seem that it is affecting a large part of the users.

silent switch iphone

If you have the iPhone with the mute switch active, it is normal for the stories to be seen without soundin the same way that happens with the Reels, IGTVs or posts normal. However, in these months we are verifying that even with the silent mode deactivated and the volume at maximum, problems are experienced to reproduce the sound of this content. Not even clicking on the unmute button on posts has much of an effect.

The origin of this problem would not be so much in the operating system or in the iPhone itself, since is more tied to the application itself. We do not know the technical details of the application, but it seems clear that the developers must investigate the origin of the problem and solve it, since it is being shown that months later they have not been able to optimize the app one hundred percent, despite the fact that they release updates to it on regular basis.

What solution can we put?

Unfortunately there is no general solution that always works for everyone. In my particular case, I do a potpourri of actions to see which one works and it is not always the same. Turn the mute switch on and off, turn the volume up and down, exit the Storie and enter it again…

However, what ends up working in the end is always close and reopen the app. It is a classic solution for this type of problem, but it is logically tedious. Even more so when we are viewing content and we lose sight of it when opening it, since we have to search for it manually and sometimes we don’t even remember who had uploaded it.

Therefore, the definitive solution to the problem does not depend on us. It will be a matter of waiting for Facebook (AKA Meta) to get down to work and solve this problem once and for all. We must not forget that it is one of the most popular applications in the world, so this matter is not trivial.
