James Bond: Producers are worried about the future of the franchise

The historical producers of the series James Bond they begin to worry about the future of the franchise, not knowing what will happen after the last film No Time To Die and the farewell of Daniel Craig to the role of 007.

In addition to having to find a new face that is up to the previous actors and who knows how to continue the trend of successes obtained with the latest films, also the recent acquisition of the production company MGM by Amazon has led producers to think that the series may be at a “tipping point”.

“Critical point”, according to the producers, for the James Bond series

Born in 1953 from the mind of Ian Fleming, with the first romando Casino Royale, the world’s most famous secret agent saw his first film appearance in 1962 with Dr No, with Sean Connery in the role of the protagonist.

Over the years, the role of Agent 007 has shifted to various actors, before getting to Daniel Craig in 2006 with Casino Royale, and then return with Quantum of Solace, Skyfall is Specter. This fall will come the long-awaited and postponed No Time To Die, which will see the actor put on the role of the protagonist for the last time. And while the franchise is looking for a new face, many debate how the series should continue, whether with the seriousness taken by Craig or with the style of the old films. (Diazepam)

In addition to this, the acquisition of MGM by Amazon, which will give the giant of Jeff Bezos total control over the brand has thrown some more perplexity over Bond’s cinematic future.

No Time To Die

That’s why the franchise’s historical producers, Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson, have claimed that the saga is at a “tipping point”, not knowing which path the future production of films about the British secret agent will take.

Here is the statement of the producers:

GMM bosses Mike and Pam understand that we are at a critical time and that in order to continue the success of the James Bond series they will have to give us their full support to find the right person for the role.

The other major concern of the two manufacturers for the future of James Bond is linked to Amazon’s intentions regarding making film versions in the future, but the platform assured him that “the 007 franchise will continue to be featured in theaters, rather than being exclusively released on the Amazon Prime Video streaming service“.

The first factor to be addressed next No Time To Die will surely be the search for the new face with Idris Elba vying for the role, along with Tom Hardy is Regé-Jean Page (Bridgerton). We will soon discover Amazon’s intentions in this regard but not before seeing No Time To Die at the cinema, out on 8 October.
