The assembly of the Gundam RX-93FF V was completed yesterday in Japan, and it is a success.
This week in Japan, passers-by were able to attend a major spectacle: After several years of work, the life-size statue of Gundam RX-93FF V has finally finished being assembled. Relayed by local media on social networks, it is a head more than 3 meters high that was finally attached to the body of the robot.

Erected in the city of Fukuoka in Japan, this imposing 1-scale statue measures nearly 25 meters high, and pays homage to Nu Gundam, a character first introduced in the animated film Mobile Suit Gundam: Tank Strikes Back released in 1988. However, the robot benefits from some changes compared to the original model. Starting with his Fin Funnel Wings, which show a serious change of scale, no doubt to allow the statue to remain stable against the wind. Another change, the RX-93 trades its iconic black for a blue white red triptych, already sported by the classic RX-78-2.
Reassure the fans, all these changes are not the result of the accident, since they were validated beforehand by Yoshiyuki Tomino, creator of the first anime Mobile Suit Gundam from 1979, who was actively involved in the construction project.

For the lucky ones who have planned to visit the Japanese archipelago, this new Gundam that looks like a modern colossus now stands in Fukuoka, on the island of Kyushu in the southwest of the country. We remind you that this is not the first time that Japan has embarked on the construction of these metal giants. A true phenomenon in its native country, the Gundam franchise goes far beyond the boundaries of simple pop culture.
Last year, a reproduction of the 18-meter-tall Gundam RC-78-2 model made its debut in the port of Tokyo. Ten years earlier, the country celebrated 30 years of the cult franchise with another 1-scale statue, this time in the student district of Obaida. A few years ago, the Japanese Space Agency (JAXA) and the University of Tokyo also announced the launching of several robots.
For French fans, it will be enough to admire the photos and videos taken on the spot. In the meantime, the animated series and its many sequels are available on Netflix.
