José Lezáun, new VP Fleet of the operator Trucksters

Trucksters, a Spanish technological transport operator based on truck relays, has incorporated the company into Jose Lezaun as a new VP Fleet. The new director arrives with the objective to turn Trucksters into one of the leading fleet operators in Spain.

Lezáun, with more than 25 years of professional experience in the sector, has held positions of responsibility in multinational companies such as Rolf Schnellecke or Grupo Sesé, in which he was Director of Operations and Director of Transport Purchases between 2009 and 2017. In addition to having owned a trucking company dedicated to international freight transport, he also served as Head of Supply and Head of FTL at the startup OnTruck between 2017 and 2020. His last professional experience prior to his arrival at Trucksters was as co-founder and CEO of Pepper, operator of sustainable last mile distribution.

On joining the startup, José Lezáun highlights: “I am very excited about the opportunity that Trucksters offers me to be part of their team. I follow the company since its inception because I was surprised by its approach. It is the first company I know whose mission is based on improving the lives of drivers. I have worked for many years in the recruitment and maintenance of transport providers and drivers, and I am a firm advocate that they are the basis of a good service, and even more so now that their scarcity is beginning to be evident. Trucksters’ growth is spectacular, confirming that its approach will change the way long distances are managed. Improving conditions for drivers will make this profession much more attractive and will be reflected in the quality of customer service. There is still a lot to do, so we started with great strength and enthusiasm to radically change a traditional and excessively rigid business.”.

Trucksters transport service allows truck drivers to sleep more at home, since the professionals only drive sections of a longer route and at relay points the semi-trailers are exchanged with another truck to drive the merchandise in the opposite direction. Thanks to these relays, their quality of life improves, in addition to improving the transport service that their customers perceive, this being faster and more efficient in terms of costs than traditional services.

On the other hand, Gabor Balogh, co-founder of the company, points out: “José Lezáun will contribute his extensive knowledge and experience in creating large fleets to turn Trucksters into one of the leading fleet operators in Spain. Our philosophy is to attract the best talent in the sector, and with this incorporation we take a big step towards the goal of growing to be one of the largest operators in this field, while also being the fastest”.

With a road transport system based on Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, the Spanish company operates as an airline through brokers and is able to get air freight times at ground freight prices. Trucksters ensures that the trucks are running continuously, getting the most out of them.

Trucksters’ proposal, which a few days ago received the Best Startup Award from the Spanish Logistics Center, It is already being used by more than 600 renowned Spanish and international companies such as Kimberly Clark, the DPD Group or Amazon, achieving very positive results in a short time, and thus solving the problems of the sector at a national and international level.
