Knights of Sidonia: the movie coming to theaters

We will probably never be able to see the third season of Knights of Sidonia on Netflix (Funimation has acquired the rights to the property and will begin streaming the first and second seasons on its platform starting August 3) but the film, announced last year, will soon arrive in theaters in the stars and stripes.

The Knights of Sidonia movie is coming to theaters

Knights of Sidonia: Love Woven in the Stars, this is the official title of the film based on Tsutomu Nihei’s manga, directed by Tadahiro ‘Tady’ Yoshihira and written by Sadayuki Murai and Tetsuya Yamada, with Polygon Pictures appearing as producer.

The film will have a limited theatrical release in Japanese, with English subtitles and English dubbing, and will serve as the conclusion to the series. Demon Slayer: The Mugen train was a huge success at the box office for the streaming service Funimation, and who knows that this does not push the company to bring the Knights of Sidonia film to the cinema also in the old continent (also given the shortage of new securities caused by the pandemic).

Mitchel Berger, SVP of Global Commerce at Funimation Global Group, spoke about his love for the series. “Knights of Sidonia is an adventure tale in the truest sense of the word, with epic battles and intertwined love stories. We can’t wait to share the conclusion of their story with fans in theaters this September. “, he explained in a statement. “And what better way to prepare for the final battle coming to theaters than to relive where it all began with the anime series streaming on Funimation. We are thrilled to be working with Polygon Pictures to bring the franchise to fans ”.

The film will officially end the animated series but will follow a completely different path from that of the manga, with Tsutomo Nihei who supervised the entire project anyway.
