The first coffee maker with built-in Alexa
Lavazza, one of the best-known coffee brands in the world, has been working closely with Amazon to launch what we can call the world’s first coffee maker that integrates Alexa. This is how the Voicy, the first in Lavazza’s A Modo Mio capsule coffee machine catalog. That has nothing to do with Melitta’s Barista TS SMart.
This makes the design similar to that of other proposals in its catalog, with the difference of that part where the controls are and that are reminiscent of a third-generation Amazon Echo. Not only because of the circular shape, nor the classic buttons used to adjust the volume, mute the microphone or activate the assistant manually, but also because of that characteristic blue LED circle.
Regarding the preparation of coffee itself, if you are one of those who is not a person in the morning until you have the first cup, all you have to do is ask with a simple “Alexa, make me a coffee” and in a matter of seconds you will have it, as long as you have left a capsule ready. Although the interesting thing here is that with voice commands you can ask for the type of coffee you want.
That is, instead of interacting with the physical controls of the coffee maker to achieve a longer coffee and a higher or lower temperature, which is how you like it, you would only have to tell it to prepare your coffee. And any other family member could use “Alexa, make Maria’s coffee” so that the coffeemaker knows what quantities and temperatures to use.
That in terms of preparation, but the integration is also interesting because the machine connects to the application that allows you to track consumption. Both daily cups and capsules, thus being able to avoid running out of them by placing new orders when there are few left. A plus of convenience from a single device that can also control the lights in the house, access the routines of Alexa and everything that any Amazon Echo would offer.
Lavazza Voicy with Alexa, price and availability
The new coffee maker Lavazza A Modo Mio Voicy It will be available both on the Lavazza website and through Amazon. At the moment, although it will be sold in Europe, it only appears in Amazon’s UK store at a price of 249 pounds (about 290 euros approximately).
That’s the price you’ll have to pay for a coffee maker with a built-in Amazon Echo so to speak. A proposal for very coffee growers, lovers of capsule coffee and those who have Alexa integrated would bring them advantages. For the rest of the users, the same does not compensate so much, especially if you are more of specialty coffee, you like to grind it every morning, etc. But since there are options for all tastes, the most technological ones will surely find reasons to bet on this Voicy.
