LEGO will transport you to the 80s with its new and long-awaited Optimus Prime

Throughout a year, LEGO usually releases quite a few sets in collaboration with franchises movies, comics and video games. The Danish company normally announces its new products and collaborations little by little, with teasing campaigns and generating a lot of expectation for the media to talk about them. Months usually go by from when a set is first announced until it ends up on the shelves of large supermarkets, and the press speculates as much as possible to decipher what product it is this time. However, on this occasion, LEGO has not been able to keep its secrets safe, and its new set in collaboration with Hasbro and the brand transformers has leaked. A few hours later, the company itself has featured the product on Twitter with an interesting animation and a link to your website.

We knew that LEGO had prepared a new set together with Hasbro What will we see next month? In fact, this week, LEGO has continued with its campaign of transformers on Twitter, although they have not shown a single image until today. Users of the social network have been speculating for weeks about what these sets will be like, because let’s remember that the grace will be that we will be able to alternate the aspect of Transformer with that of a car, and that does not seem easy if we talk about what we will do with LEGO pieces.

Everything would remain unknown until June were it not for the user COOLGUY 9201who has uploaded to YouTube a filtration of what this first LEGO set was like. It is, how could it be otherwise, Optimus Prime. The youtuber has shown in his video several images of what this Cybertronian-inspired toy is like, which can be folded very easily to become a truck, although it will not do so in the Peterbilt 379, as many people thought, but rather it is a edition inspired by the G1 version of the character.

Shortly after, LEGO has decided to announce the set on Twitter with a very funny animation and giving us the rest of the information we needed to know. This is a product of the LEGO Creator Expert series. That is, it will not be a set intended for children. The goal of the Danish brand is once again the older audienceas we saw a few months ago with the limited edition of Back to the Future.

LEGO Creator Expert: Optimus Prime It can already be seen on the LEGO website for 169.99 euros, and will go on sale on June 1. It features 1,508 pieces and has 19 points of articulation. When folded, that is, if we keep it in its truck shape, the toy will measure 15 centimeters in height and 27 in length. In robot mode, the model will be approximately 35cm tall.

What other sets will arrive in the future?

LEGO experts already claimed that this first edition would be a first-generation Optimus Prime, which debuted in cartoons in the 1980s, and it seems they were right. These same people are encouraged to affirm that the second set that we will see in a few months will be the megatron. However, what comes from there will already be a mystery.

There are quite a few Transformers characters that could fit nicely into a LEGO set. For that reason, Grimlock, Bumblebee, Soundwave and Starscream are a handful of characters that probably wouldn’t be far from also receiving their own version materialized thanks to the most famous plastic bricks in the world.
