Lenovo renews itself in a big way at MWC 2023

We expected that Lenovo would arrive with a lot to tell us at MWC 2023, and now we can state with total categoricalness that the company has lived up to it, with a good handful of news, especially in the ThinkPad family but also with news in IdeaPad, Yoga, and even a functional proof of concept that could mark the future of portable and portable devices. Many and very interesting news that we summarize below.

roll up screens

We start with the proof of concept of a line of research that Lenovo has been working on for some time, rollable OLED screens. And I insist on proof of concept because, at least for now, Lenovo has not stated that there are concrete plans to bring this technology to market. Obviously they are working in that direction, but we can understand that there is still a lot of research work ahead before it is possible to offer something like this to users.

The prototype shown looks, at first glance, like a conventional laptop, with a 12.7-inch screen and a resolution of 2,024 x 1,604 dots in a 4:3 aspect ratio. Everything changes, however, by pressing a button, which starts the display process, signed by Sharp, which changes its geometry until it reaches 15.3 inches with a resolution of 2,024 x 2,368 points in an aspect ratio of 8:9.

Another particularly noteworthy aspect is that Lenovo has chosen to integrate chips Intel Processor N100 or N200that is to say, that we find integrated of the Intel Alder Lake-N family, which can be accompanied by cfour or eight gigabytes of LPDDR5 memory and 128GB of UFS storage or a 256 gig PCie M.2 SSD. In terms of connectivity, it has WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C ports (one with support for power and data and the other with support for both and also for video output) and an audio minijack connector. We are still talking about the IdeaPad, but this time we are dealing with a very interesting Chromebook, since it has some elements that we usually associate with higher-performance computers. And we find the first of them as soon as we observe it, because I am talking about its screen built with a 11.5-inch IPS LCD touch panel with FullHD resolution (1,920 x 1,080 points in an orthodox 16:9 aspect ratio). We will also find a version with a non-touch screen, as well as a model whose screen makes the leap to 14 inches. In addition, it has a hinge that allows a rotation of up to 170 degrees.

Once inside we find a MediaTek Kompanio 500 SoCAccompanied by 4 gigabytes of RAM and 64 gigabytes of storage in its entry version, although there will also be a more advanced version, with 8 gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of storage.
