Lenovo ThinkPad Z13 and Z16, sustainable design with AMD processor

Lenovo has arrived at CES 2022 with a new range of laptops ThinkPad professionals under the arm. This range, the Z, is made up of two models, the ThinkPad Z13 and the ThinkPad Z16, and is characterized by a redesign that includes sustainable and recycled materials, and by the integration of AMD processors, since these teams will not be available with Intel chips. They include up to 32 GB of RAM and an SSD storage unit that in the case of the Z13 can be up to 1 TB, and in that of the Z16, 2 TB.

Thus, the Z13 will be able to integrate a chip from the AMD Ryzen PRO U range, while the Z16 will be able to include one from the AMD Ryzen PRO H family. They will also be the first to offer the possibility of including a new AMD Ryzen PRO 6000 family processor. The Z13 can go with the AMD Ryzen PRO 6860Z. As for the ThinkPad Z16, it can incorporate the AMD Radeon RX 6500M chip. Both will integrate an AMD Radeon graphics card, as well as Microsoft’s Pluton security processor, responsible for strengthening the security options of Windows 11 computers in terms of user identity, applications and data.

Recycled materials have been used in its design, such as aluminum and black vegan leather, and care in this aspect has reached its packaging, for which recycled bamboo and sugar cane have been used. Its case is designed to have thin edges, and a screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio. In it there is a Communications Bar in which there is an FHD webcam and dual array microphones.

On the other hand, it incorporates a 120-millimeter glass haptic ForcePad that is integrated with a wrist rest, also made of glass. Those who prefer Lenovo’s red TrackPoint will find it on the keyboard, with a new function. Thus, two taps on it opens a quick communications menu for quick access to camera and microphone settings.

In terms of screen, the Z13 has a 13.3-inch 2.8K OLED touch screen, while the Z16, with a 16-inch screen, has a 4K OLED. In both cases, the displays are Dolby Vision compliant and have a low blue light level. On the other hand, they incorporate Dolby Atmos speakers with Dolby Voice noise cancellation technology, powered by Artificial Intelligence. They have Windows 11 pre-installed and a fingerprint reader integrated into the keyboard. The Z13 offers two USB-C ports, while the Z16 has three, as well as a card reader.

Both models will be available from next May. It is not yet known what price they will have in euros. For now it is known that the price of the ThinkPad Z13 will start at 1,549 dollars, and that of the ThinkPad Z16, from 2,099 dollars.
