LG introduces two new CineBeam 4K projectors

The South Korean brand unveils the CineBeam HU715Q and HU710P, two 4K projectors with promising features.

LG is expanding its range of projectors with the presentation of two new CineBeam models. The brand does not lack ambition with the HU715Q and HU710P which offer Ultra HD 4K definition; with a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1 and HDR compatibility. The two novelties from LG nevertheless opt for a different approach.

LG CineBeam HU715Q

The first model presented by the firm, the HU715Q is an ultra-short focal length laser projector. It is very bright and promises 2,500 ANSI lumens, which should offer more flexibility for its use. It will not be necessary to plunge into total darkness to enjoy it.

LG advertises a 20,000 hour light life for its 3840 x 2160 pixel Ultra HD projector. Like its predecessors, it can automatically adapt to ambient light to optimize its image. TrueMotion motion compensation is also present and it is possible to display an image of up to 120 inches. The LG HU715Q presents itself as an ultra-short focal length video projector and it only needs 21.7 cm of recoil to display a diagonal of 100 inches (2.54 m).

On the connection side, there are three HDMI ports with eARC, two USB 2.0 ports and a Magic Lighting remote control. The video projector also has an integrated audio system delivering a power of 2 x 20 watts in stereo.

While the HU715Q relies on a laser light source, the HU710P offers a hybrid laser and LED solution. Like the previous model, its lighting claims a lifespan of 20,000 hours with an advertised brightness of 2,000 lumens. The two CineBeam projectors share many features, but there are a few differences.

This second model requires a greater distance from the wall; LG evoking a minimum distance of 2.9 to 4.6 m for a 100 inch image. On the other hand, the HU710P compensates by being able to display a maximum image of 300 inches (762 cm) with Lens Shift adjustment (horizontal +/- 24%, vertical +/- 60%). Its hybrid approach is also expected to deliver vivid colors and deep blacks; despite a brightness that does not exceed 2,000 ANSI lumens. Among the other differences, we note the x1.6 zoom or even a less developed audio part. This video projector is content with a power of 2 x 5 watts.

The connection is identical, with 3 eARC-compatible HDMI ports and two USB 2.0 ports. Always in the radius of the common points, the two models embed the Filmmaker Mode function and work under webOS. LG’s operating system provides access to platforms such as YouTube, Netflix, Disney+ and Apple TV.

Price and availability

The CineBeam 4K projectors, models HU715Q and HU710P, will be available during the first quarter of 2022. LG mentions availability in many markets, including Europe. However, the brand has not yet communicated the price of these future devices. The LG HUG715Q should be displayed around 3,000 euros while the HU710Q could be marketed around 2,300 euros.

“More and more consumers appreciate being able to watch their favorite content like in a real cinema, which is why the home projector segment is experiencing such strong growth”said Seo Young-jae, senior vice president and head of LG’s IT business unit. With the Covid-19 pandemic, this type of solution has interested consumers to make their cinema at home. It stands out from LCD or OLED televisions by projecting a much larger image.
