LG markets the first OLED monitors with a 240 Hz refresh rate

LG has announced the launch of two unique LG UltraGear series computer monitors, which stand out for the use of an OLED panel that increases the refresh rate up to 240hz. The monitor market already offers equal or higher refresh rates, but they are the first models on the planet with an OLED screen that reach that value.

Especially dedicated to the demanding PC gaming market, LG markets the series in two models with different sizes, both adding the high refresh rate with the qualities of OLED in display quality.

LG Ultra Gear OLED Gaming Monitor (27GR95QE)

The first of the announced models mounts a 27-inch OLED panel with native resolution 2K (2560 x 1440 pixels), with the mentioned refresh rate of 240 Hz and a minimum response time of 0.03 ms. It offers a contrast ratio of 1,500,000:1, supports HDR10 and covers 98.5% of the DCI-P3 color gamut.

LG raises the bar even higher with this second model that offers a gigantic diagonal of 45 incheswith an OLED panel curved in a curvature ratio 800R and widescreen format that raises the native resolution to WQHD for 3440 x 1440 pixels. It maintains the impressive 240Hz refresh rate, 0.03ms response time and 1,500,000:1 contrast ratio.

It has the same connectivity elements as its younger brother, with two HDMI 2.1 inputs, a Display Port 1.4 and a USB hub with one upstream and two downstream ports. Its ergonomic base has height, tilt and turn adjustment. It can also be seen at the Las Vegas fair and is priced at $1,500.

Both models feature full support for NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium image synchronization technologies, ensuring smooth response times no matter what graphics card you have or what game you’re playing. They’re not cheap, but that 240Hz refresh rate, plus the image quality, black levels, and high contrast advantages of OLED, should offer a great gaming experience.
