LG StandbyME, for those who want to take their television everywhere

LG has previewed some of the products that it will present at CES 2022. And they are as unconventional as the LG StandbyME, basically a portable TV that you can easily move around the rooms of the home, although it has some additional interesting features.

LG StandbyME is a small TV with 27 inches, mounted on a height-adjustable stand, and with the ability to tilt, rotate or place the screen in portrait mode. LG says its built-in battery will offer three hours of use on a single charge, which will at least give to see a movie.

You can also remove it from the stand and use it as a giant tablet since it has multi-touch technology, plus screen mirroring function for Android and iOS with the Mobile Screen Mirroring from LG, which should work well with portrait mode in the same way that the Samsung Sero does.

It has apps for major streaming services, NFC touch to pair, an optional phone dock, a USB port, and at least one HDMI input. It can be operated with commented touch controls, gestures, voice and a remote control.

Although LG focuses it for use in home environments, it could be used in the same way in classrooms or for video calls. No information has been provided about the resolution, characteristics or the panel itself, probably a typical LCD. We also do not know the sale price.

The second of the televisions presented by the South Korean firm is just as unusual as the previous one. Mount an OLED 4K evo panel from LG not very different from the ones you usually mount and an 80-watt, 4.2-channel sound system. What makes it special is that It is covered with fabric in case you want to cover it when it is not in use, in whole or in part if you want it to display what LG calls “a selection of lifestyle features.” Or what is the same, widgets, date and clock, music playback or art in Gallery mode.

The cover is remotely controlled and the fabric comes from the Danish specialist company Kvadrat, available in various colors, beige, red or green. The sale price is not known either, but it should not be economical. We’ll see them in Las Vegas at CES 2022 in January.
