Logitech MX Keys Combo for Business review: All productivity in the palm of your hand

Ergonomics and productivity often go hand in hand in the workplace. Having at our disposal elements with which we like to work, makes it easier for us to “Getting Things Done” that the writer David Allen made so fashionable.

Nothing like a mouse whose prolonged use does not worsen our carpal tunnel syndrome, or a keyboard that saves us a few more keystrokes, to prove it. From here, as the Anglo-Saxons say, «Sky is the limit».

For Logitech, this has resulted, among other products, in updating its «MX Master 3S and MX Keys Combo for Business« a pair of wireless keyboard and mouse that promise to be among the best on the market.

With native support for both Windows and Mac, both devices pair to our team through their own dongle USB and have their own application from which we can configure their behavior to our liking. Let’s see what it offers us and if it fulfills what it promises.

MX KEYS for Business

With this keyboard, we feel like we’re going to be working with a premium device right out of the box. Constructed of high-quality materials, its weight makes it always stand firmly on the desk, betting on rubber keys that barely rise a millimeter above the horizontal base.

To facilitate faster and more precise typing, each key is separated from the rest by an additional millimeter while being “sunken” in its center in order to increase the comfort of the typist at full speed. In our case, we still prefer that typing speed that some mechanical keyboards provide, but it is fair to say that this membrane keyboard complies by maintaining a very interesting balance between key travel and the necessary friction, without tiring us at any time. after several hours of use.

Continuing with the arrangement of its keys, the effort that Logitech has made to make it fully compatible with both Windows and Mac is striking, betting on a double labeling on keys like “Opt/Start” or “CMD/Alt”; or combining the top row and classic keys of the keyboard of a MacBook Pro (such as the control of the degree of backlighting on the keyboard) with the classic function keys found in Windows. Additionally, we find some designed for the business public, such as the start of voice dictation, the projection or cutout of the screen and the numerical pad together with direct access to the calculator (and even direct access to the system emojis).

It has a USB-C port to recharge it and a small switch with which we can turn it off and save battery when we are not using it, although by default it enters a “suspension” mode a few seconds after stopping typing. Through its software (LogiOptions+) we can control the battery level of both peripherals and in the case of the keyboard, assign different values to the keys on the top row.

To give it a snag, perhaps the use of those double keys that we were talking about before and whose values are repeated next to the space bar, are somewhat confusing at first and their behavior changes with respect to what we are used to. We will not be able to change it and in our case, it has become a source of small frustrations.

Finally, it is worth noting that thanks to the feature easy-switchwe can control up to three devices, which makes it very interesting if, in addition to our team, we are working simultaneously with, for example, a tablet or a secondary computer.

MX Master 3S For Business

If we talk about the MX Master 3S instead, what Logitech puts in our hands is a real Swiss army knife that, when used well, will boost our productivity thanks to its precision (up to 8000PPI), ergonomics and functions with which we can work.

As ergonomics is something tremendously subjective and personal, we won’t go too far into assessing whether this is the most suitable design for everyone, but in our experience, this is one of the most comfortable mice we’ve had the opportunity to work with, allowing us to rest your hand in a completely natural way while your wrist “flies” over the desk.

In addition to the two classic buttons and its central wheel (we are in love with its speed), the new Logitech has a secondary wheel that is located under the thumb (perhaps too high for our hand), two additional action buttons under the itself and a small and barely visible button that will allow us to trigger actions based on gestures. We will access all these buttons with our thumb and until we “muscularly” get used to using them, there is a slight learning curve that we will have to overcome (and memorize).

Once again, this configuration of actions and gestures will be found in LogiOptions+. In our case, we have opted for one that allows us to show/hide the desktop, navigate between the applications that we have open, direct access to the copy and paste options and multimedia controls… but in reality, the possibilities are almost endless. Above all because we can also create profiles for different applications such as our browser, programs such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom, email…

As in the case of the keyboard, this MX Master makes it easy for us to control up to three different devices and as a novelty, it includes the feature «Logi Flow» that allows us to move the cursor from one computer to another just by moving the pointer to the end of the active screen, and can also transfer text, images or files between different computers. Of course, for it to work, we must install LogiOptions in each of them.

Unlike other mice, the new Logitech moves freely on surfaces such as glass, without the need for a mat for it and, as in the case of the keyboard, it allows charging through a USB-C port. In short, practically everything we may need in the palm of our hand.

Of course, so many possibilities and excellent build quality translate into a high price. Not all professionals are willing to invest the more than 280 euros that this pair of peripherals costs and, of course, if ergonomics is a fundamental factor for us, we can find high-quality devices for much less money.

However, and especially in the case of the mouse, we are willing to assume a certain learning curve, we will soon discover that we will not only save a great amount of time, but also those eight hours or more that we spend in front of the screen, They will be much more comfortable for us.
